Tavira Golf Week Jan 25 2014

24 players attended our annual Golf Week in Tavira which was played in fine weather (albeit a little cool first thing in the morning this time of year) and, as usual, good spirit through out.

Tavira is a lovely old town completely unspoilt and everyone looks forward to walking into town for dinner in the evenings. While it is always at their discretion, I think it speaks volumes of the camaraderie of the week that 20 plus attended our pre booked restaurants each evening.

We commenced the golf week with a couple of best two from four team events at Quinta da Cima and Quinta da Ria, followed by a 4 BBB at Benamor.
Day 1 Team winners Liz, Christine, Richard & Steve Day 2 Team winners Sheila, Christine, Joseph & John Day 3 4BBB winners Val & David (me) r/up Elly & John

Most took a rest day on Wednesday but 8 of us couldn’t resist the lure of Monte Rei. As always we were treated royally and enjoyed a superb days golf. We are hoping to arrange 2 or 3 day break staying in their luxury villa’s and playing exclusively at Monte Rei later in the year. Please let us know if you are interested.

Thursday we returned to Quinta do Cima for our main competition, an individual stableford. Three people tied for first place on 32 points, Colin winning with a superb 14 points on the last six from Richard and Liz our leading Lady. For the final day a free draw took place at the previous nights dinner. Joseph & Neville pipped Paula & Mike on the last 9 with 37 for the runner up place but this was no match for Sheila and Steve, runaway winners on 44!

We will return next year to this popular venue and as usual precede the Golf Week with a Golf & Coaching week at the Robinson Club and Quinta do Ria.

  1. My first David Short holiday and what a great week. A pity that most of the group missed the fitting finale when Christine, wheeling her airport trolley at a good pace towards the airport, with her suitcase and golf clubs, somehow failed to notice that her golf clubs had in fact fallen off a few seconds earlier and were lying in the road behind her.

    1. Just wanted to see if you were awake as our habit was to leave things behind 🙂 It was a great week and a very good group.

  2. We had a great time with a great group and a perfect (as always) host – looking forward to returning in May (a good time to take a holiday David?!)
