This week with clinics was only ever planned for 12 people and a couple of unavoidable late cancellations left the number a little depleted, however, 9 people enjoyed the continuing great weather and Pinheiros Altos and San Lorenzo presented in lovely condition. Indeed the fairways at San Lorenzo were like carpets and the best I have seen for many years.
Personally, it was a real pleasure to welcome Brian and Cathy Wheatley along again as I had not seen them for a number of years. They embrace the ambience of these weeks and as they know the area and love their dining out we put them in charge of restaurants. A big thank you from us all, we were not disappointed!!
It was Brian (8 h’cap) who came out on top of our points table at the end of the week. However, the highlight for me was playing with Gurdip and Brian at Pinheiros Altos 600 yard par 5 fourth hole into a very strong wind on Thursday. I made the front edge with 3 good drivers, (having pitched from within 100 yards for my third a few days earlier), Brian at the side of the green for 4 and Gurdip (22) along side me for 5. The pin was at the back of the 40 yard green but Gurdip calmly rolled his putt in from all of 100 plus feet!! Three 5 for 2 points each felt like 3 birdies!!
