San Lorenzo Golf Tour
With handicaps ranging from 7 to 29 and a group whos’ golf I know quite well from the coaching point of view, this was more about “pushing back on track” rather than new things, although golf being what it is, I’m sure some of the reminders felt and even sounded new. How easy it’s to forget and drift back to old ways!
We commenced the week with a couple of team games, the first at a tough Pinheiros Altos won by David, Andy and Colin on 66 points. Our second day and first round of the week at San Lorenzo saw Colin, for the second day running, partnered by Simon, Joan and Paula return a winning 74 pts.
A 4 BBB followed at Pinheiros Altos, where David and Simon, both obviously with grand delusions, scored a very good 37 pts, while 3 other pairs tied on 34, Edward and Liz being r/up on the back nine.
Thursday’s individual stableford run concurrently with a team event was comprehensively won by Andy on 35, Rae was R/up and leading Lady while Fraser took third place. Not surprisingly, Andy’s team with David, Simon and Bob won the team event with 73, Joan, Rae and Liz second two points behind.
Due to one or two early departures our final day was slightly reduced in numbers leaving 6 ladies and 6 men to play a match purely for honor. While Colin and I had joint best 4bbb score of 38 pts and just won our match following a spirited fight back from Rae and Katrina, the Ladies were clear winners in the other 2 matches to give the ladies a final and deserved victory for the week.
I feel these weeks are very well balanced with 3 coaching sessions and two rounds at Pinheiros Altos and 3 rounds at San Lorenzo; who can’t enjoy golf there? Two very good buffet dinners in the hotel and a selection of excellent restaurants to walk to or only a short taxi ride away. We will certainly look forward to a return next year.
Hope to see you soon.
