Robinson Club, Golf and Coaching, Algarve 15th Nov 2014

On Sunday, which was the first day of our golf and coaching and we’ve got what we signed up for, namely some sun! In less than an hour of our start everyone was in shirt sleeves and gently perspiring.  In the morning we had a swing review and covered some fundamentals and some swing building ideas.  After a break for one of the excellent lunches they do at the Robinson Club, we were back out to cover putting.  The second half of the afternoon was spent chipping and pitching and then finishing off with some bunker shots.  A very productive day and enjoyed by all.  After dinner an early night after a solid days learning.

Monday we played the Cima course, which is an excellent layout.  Our chipping and pitching was called into action pretty quickly with some deft approaches being played.  Shot of the day was Bryan’s excellent 5 hybrid onto the 17th green to 15 feet over the water into the wind.

Tuesday we came back to Cima and had a team competition after a good morning on the range, videoing our swings.

Wednesday was a well earned day off, although three of our number plumped for more golf.  Highlight of the day was the afternoon Apple Strudel served in the club house (where I have worked out there is approximately one hour per day, where it is not possible to get food!) and Paul winning the German Quiz! Evening wise, there was some live music followed by a super disco and leading the way on the dance floor wre “jivers in chief” David and Janet who were definitely our Strictly champions.

Thursday took us on the Ria course blessed with excellent views out to sea and a wee breeze, just to make it interesting.  For one of our number, Abby it was her first venture out on the golf course having been learning for just two months.  Opening her account with a bogey on the long 1st hole was quite a way to start.  I should also mention an excellent birdie fashioned by Steve on the treacherous par 4, 14th over water.  He reduced it to a drive over said water to the front edge and polished off with a neat 9 foot putt for the birdie.

Friday we reviewed our pointers from the week on the range and after some fine tuning took to the Ria course in beautiful conditions.  We had a Four Ball Better Ball event and Paul and James won with an an excellent 40 points.  A great front nine from James to virtually par and rubber stamped with a grandstand finish on 18 by Paul.  We had the resorts official photographer out with us and highlights from our final day are below.

So another splendid meal to finish the week off and a spot of dancing to round off an excellent week at one of our favourite resorts.

All the best

Barney
