PGA Catalunya

Our first experience of PGA Catalunya was positive although very much captive on resort. As the home of final qualifying for the European Tour it is  obviously very geared for golf with excellent practice facilities (especially short game), two contrasting courses and a good hotel offering more casual evenings for the holiday golfer. It was a bit wet and cloudy to begin with, but when the clouds cleared stunning views of the snow capped Pyrenees mountains and unspoilt countryside were delightful.

The Tour course is a most enjoyable resort course, quite an undulating first 9 and a flatter back 9 that makes it a comfortable walking course. The Stadium course however is a different challenge! An excellent but difficult Championship course through and through. Very undulating playing through trees and valleys, super water holes, long, even from the every day tees and a buggy course for most. Look out for it when the Spanish Open is played there 15 – 18 May, although TV will not do justice to the elevations.
