I write this wishing you all a very Happy New Year from the sunny Algarve. What has become our traditional Christmas Week at the Robinson Club was once again well attended and although rained off on the first day, the rest of the week was played under predominantly blue skies and in shirtsleeve order as it so often the case at this time of year on the Algarve. Now in Vilamoura, with 16 of last week’s party and with a new influx, we are now enjoying the New Year tour and like many of you I am sure, wondering where the last 15 years have gone!!
January will see me back on old ground at La Quinta for a ‘Golf & Coaching Week,’ with a ‘Golf Week’ in the vicinity of Marbella to follow. It is not too late to book for either event. I then have three days at home to unpack, repack and then head off to my favourite destination, South Africa , visiting the favourite areas of Cape Town, the Winelands, the Garden Route and a welcome return to Durban where the golf, ambience and scenery is quite different, but every bit as good as the Western Cape.
The European Tour will begin again in January following the Christmas break in South Africa followed by the Gulf Swing. Writing the above brings back very fond memories of many tours to South Africa and several we did to Doha Golf Club, Qatar, at the beginning of the century. At that time the new course had just opened and we drove a few miles out into the desert each morning from Doha to the man-made Oasis that is Doha GC. Now, looking on TV it appears to be surrounded by infrastructure and like the PGA Tour itself, a far cry from the millennium year and what were truly splendid times; still much talked about by those clients who ventured there.
2016 is of course another Ryder Cup year and what an exciting year it promises to be. Whilst we still have a few of the old guard looking like making the teams on both sides, an exciting new brigade will surely be doing battle in September, by which time we will know whether Rory has achieved the Slam or will Jordan Spieth continue his meteoric rise and beat him to it? We will also have our first Olympic golf medalists; quite a summer in prospect.
Hello from a soggy Hertfordshire! The mild wet weather looks set to change to something more seasonal (a nice way of saying, it’s going to be freezing over here), so I am really looking forward to my 1st DSG trip of the year to Vilamoura and tackling the excellent Oceanico golf courses.
The following week sees me at our Wunderbar venue the Robinsons Club at Tavira with 12 avid golfers who just happen to be…..Ladies! Fortunately, Jennie will be taking part and giving me appropriate direction when required. I will be back there again in April and already we have some players signed up for one of my favourite Golf and Coaching Venues. The facilities are excellent, the food plentiful and tasty and topped off with the resorts fun evening activities.
So as we begin a new golfing year, I thought I would share this apt tip as to how to begin your next round and overcome any 1st tee butterflies. All the best Barney.

A very Happy New Year to you all, may it be a happy, prosperous and healthy one. We are certainly seeing a busy start to 2016, with the two January events well attended and the events in March, April and May filling up quite nicely. To check on the latest availability, please refer to the website, which illustrates the number of places available.
If you are considering a trip in the spring period, the events which are selling out quite fast are San Lorenzo and La Cala; hence if you are thinking of either of these events, please let me know as soon as is convenient. The details for the Lisbon and Bologna events are on the website and over the coming weeks the details of the Sri Lanka Golf Tours will be on the website, which should all prove quite popular. We will also be launching the November 2016 – February 2017 programme very shortly as well, to give you as much time as possible to plan for future events. Thank you to everyone who booked or inquired in 2015 and we hope that the programme for 2016 is both exciting and tempting. All the best for 2016, Iain.
Hello, I too am enjoying the delights of winter in Hertfordshire and when I am not golfing or socialising, it is my task to keep the website up to date. We now have a rolling year of events on the site with country and calendar selections to make it easier to find events. We add links to the golf courses and hotel websites that you will be staying at and also the ability to download the pdf brochures. When you return from a DSG trip you will receive an email from me asking for comments / views that we can add to the website. These are really useful and help us to improve and let new customers know what fun they are going to have with David & Barney. I look forward to hearing from you. Jennie
As the season is getting into full swing (pardon the pun), Barney and I will look forward to welcoming you on events both home and abroad, passing on our knowledge and experience and hopefully make 2016 your most enjoyable golfing year to date.
With kind regards,
David and the team
