Our select group of 6 all agreed this is a gem!
Lumine is an hour south of Barcelona, a few hundred metres from the coast and run very smoothly by Troon Golf. Two superb and contrasting golf courses, each with its own clubhouse and practice facilities are run by a welcoming, very competent staff.
The Greg Norman Lakes course is flat and easy walking, the name speaks for its self, but there is plenty of room off the tee, the lakes and bunkering very fairly used and is a most enjoyable resort course, a challenge for the better player but very playable by all. If there is a downside it is probably the views which include an industrial area in the distance to one end of the course and the town close by, however, the quality of the course soon captures your attention and that is soon forgotten. By contrast the near by Hills course is cleverly designed in the trees and valleys, more undulating as the name suggests, but quite walkable and for the main part a rural setting. In addition there is a further 9 holes, The Ruins, also designed by Norman, although we didn’t play it this time.
The format of Golf with Clinics week allowed the players to work on a couple of points, sharpen the short game before play but keep the accent on a golfing holiday. While playing a team event or four ball better ball each day, the final days individual stableford was won by 9 handicap Scott Worgan, (in action below)who will be considerably lower before long I’m quite certain.
Keep a look out for our return to Lumine. While there we sourced an excellent 4 star family run hotel in the nearby port of Camprils, set one block back from the port and beach and in the midst of a plethora of shops and a wide choice of quality restaurants, one of which was much enjoyed on our final evening.
