Having not been to La Cala for a long time, it was great to return and the resort was in first class condition . It was also nice to leave a rainy U.K. and drop straight into the perfect weather we found in Andalusia. The great conditions certainly inspired our group and we had some excellent golf on the first three days .
Highlights were an excellent 42 points by Andrew and Bob on the interesting Europa course. On the challenging Asia course we had a fun team competition and Andrew, Richard, Gareth and Rosemary accrued an impressive 86 points to win the day. After golf the Tapas dinner in La Bodego restaurant was really good as was the Riocha that accompanied it!
On the day off we decided to have a short game clinic and brush up our skills on La Calas excellent facility. With the sloping lies and cavernous bunkers , there was plenty to review for our last two rounds. Most of the group then went to the beautiful village up in the hills Midas Pueblo. A lovely place to stroll around and we found a super restaurant right in the centre called the White Blackbird and had a fantastic lunch and suffice to say the portions were ample!
We finished up with revisits to the Europa and America’s courses and clearly highlight of the golf was the win by Rosemary and Liz on the final day. We finished off our week with a nice dinner in the Hotel and a brilliant display of flamenco dancing to round off our super Spanish experience . Equally excellent was our very own Richard Kennet who with very little cajoling joined the ensemble on stage and blended in seamlessly it has to be said!
A great week at La Cala and hopefully repeated before long.
