We will be offering a trip to Florida in October and we will be staying at Grand Cypress Orlando for 3 nights with 2 rounds of golf and the remainder of the trip will be to Naples, Florida. So I have just played the New Golf Course at Grand Cypress resort, a Jack Nicklaus designed 18 hole masterpiece with St Andrews Golf Course in mind. The 1st and 18th holes share the same large inviting fairway, just like the home of golf. So a nice inviting start.
There are 150 bunkers dotted around the course and although the fairways are wide, they have ball attracting qualities! The greens are beautifully shaped and as you would expect at a top quality venue they are an excellent speed. The water on the golf course is found on a few holes in the form of a burn winding its way around in front of the green.
This is a really fun experience and very different compared to what one would expect in Florida. I took a trip around the other 27 holes and they featured larger water and bunker hazards, than the New Golf Course. This venue was deemed good enough to host 8 LPGA events and other professional and amateur golf events.
They have just refurbished all of the villas on the complex and they are spacious and very well appointed. I think this will be a trip you will not want to miss!
