Meeting the guys on Saturday night at the hotel and subsequent meal was very relaxing and the perfect way to get to know each other before our game the next day at Meloneras Golf.
We decided to play a combination of match play and kept our Stableford scores too without holding anyone up. For me it was a good chance to get to see their games and before we finished the round I had a good idea of what was achievable to help improve their game in a playing holiday. I’ve never really been one for trying to rebuild golf swings, more of a “let’s get round the course in less shots without mucking your whole game up” type coach. After all, they were all over 40!
Les and Jeff were both pretty steady off the tee and Alan not too bad although he felt he wanted less height and with a couple of easy adjustments he got better and better with his drives, so job done there. In fact, job too well done as Alan seemed to end the week a huge 4 euros better off.
A bit of tweaking here and there with Les and Jeff and which will help them both enjoy their game a little more, I’m sure.
The courses were very good, Meloneras seemed to grow on us and the staff looked after us very well. Salobre is very different and you definitely need a buggy, some good looking par 3’s and very much a resort course. Anfi was certainly the course we were most impressed by though. A fine golf course now 25 years old and we all agreed we wouldn’t get tired of playing there. Some spectacular holes and well presented, some amazing views and we could have been in Arizona along with some huge boulders that, as Tiger would remind us, are loose impediment’s, you just need a dozen strong blokes to move them!
Thank you Alan, Jeff and Les, I very much enjoyed all the stories and look forward to meeting up with you again.
