Tuesday – A bit of rain and cloud moved in, however we managed a little putting seminar and as the rain came in we went in for tea and crepes. Suitably fortified out for chipping and pitching to get us ready not only for the upcoming golf but for the season too. Robinson Clubs interpretation of Mamma Mia finished off the evening!!
Wednesday – We had a swing clinic and covered warm up (yes you should!) and how not only is it good for your muscles, it actually can help you educate your golf swing to give it the correct feel. So a nice sunny, breezy day to tackle the excellent Qunita da Ria. We started on the 10th which is the stroke 1 hole, however several of our party parred it so that set the tone for an excellent afternoons golf. With our 12 players we went for a pairs better ball stableford. After a steady start Alison and Jean went on to an excellent finish and took the swindle pot for the day.
Thursday – We opted for an early start today and were blessed with a fabulous morning and as we were out first the ladies set an excellent pace. Quinta de Cima sets a different challenge and the water certainly is a feature on 16, 17 and 18 and did claim a few of our golf balls. So second day running our winningest player Alison partnered up with Suzi for another fabulous victory. A lovely lunch on the terrace followed by a few of the party coming out to the range to fine tune their games.
Friday – We finished up with a real treat by playing the amazing Monte Rei. This is a truly special place and their attention to detail first class. We were joined by three of the groups husbands, so had a fun team comp of best two of four better ball stableford. Each hole has the feature of being on its own and this Nicklaus designed course features some of his favourite mounds either side of the fairways. A day was had by all and as golf often does the level of competition was incredibly close. 1 point separated three teams and the quartet of Sarah, Michelle, Sue and Dot winning on count back. We had a very enjoyable post match drink in the terrific clubhouse and usual talk of “could of, should of” took place 🙂
All the best
