We had eight keen students for our first golf Academy of the season and in the main we were blessed with great weather throughout the weekend. We began on Friday with a clinic and some ideas on using swing building exercises for practice and pre shot routines that help to embed the feel of the movement. After lunch we played 9 holes and a chance for me to see everyone on the course, the true test!
Saturday morning we looked at the things I had seen on the course and went over that with each player. After that we focussed on the short game, starting with chipping and then on to pitching and putting. We played after lunch and even though they worked really hard some wanted to go on and complete the eighteen holes, so needless to say everyone had an early night.
On Sunday we had a classroom review session in the morning, which David and I find really useful and we always have some thought provoking questions. After coffee we worked on our favourite shot.. bunkers and looked at how good technique will pop you out with confidence.
We had a pairs match with Rita and Roberta taking on Robin and Michael. A keenly contested game which was decided by a putt by Roberta on the last hole, using her new cross handed grip which we talked about on Saturday.
A great weekend all round and I am looking forward to hearing everyone’s progress over the summer.
All the best
