My long-awaited trip to Turkey finally arrived – and what a week it turned out to be! The Golf Coaching and Pilates Retreat at the beautiful Gloria Golf Resort was everything I hoped it would be and more.
Hosted by myself, Jo Mundy, alongside my twin sister and fellow PGA Professional Sam Head, we welcomed 20 guests to the tranquil and luxurious Gloria Verde Hotel, near Antalya, set amongst pine forests and just moments away from one of Europe’s finest golfing resorts.
From the moment we arrived, the week was filled with energy, learning, golf – and of course, movement.
Movement & Mind-Body Connection
It was exciting to host eight Posture and Pilates classes throughout the week in a spacious and airy conference room at the Gloria Verde. For many guests, this was their very first introduction to Posture Therapy Alignment – a gentle but powerful way to help realign the body, relieve tension, and prepare both mentally and physically for a day on the golf course.
Our morning sessions were designed to warm up the body and introduce dynamic stretches ideal before play. On our rest day, we shifted the focus to Pilates strength, while the late afternoon and evening sessions provided deep relief with restorative postural exercises.
A real favourite was Static Back and Static Press – relaxing yet transformative movements that quickly became part of everyone’s daily wind-down. And due to popular demand, I added two extra classes, which were filled to the brim!
We finished each session with the now infamous Air Bench – sitting against the wall with no chair, building strength and endurance. On day one, we struggled through one minute. By the final day, many were proudly holding for two full minutes – a brilliant measure of improvement!
On the Course: Skills, Swings & Sunshine
Meanwhile, Sam led the golf coaching sessions, supported by David Clare, the PGA Advanced Coach and Director of Golf at Gloria. Guests rotated through three stations – long game, short game (chipping and bunkers), and putting – ensuring all areas of their game were touched on.
Once my posture sessions were done, I joined in the coaching too, and it was so fulfilling to see our guests gaining confidence and taking in the technical tweaks that made a real difference. Best of all, everyone could dip in and out as they pleased – but most chose to join everything!
A Week to Remember
By the end of the week, not only were scores improving, but so were bodies. Guests commented on how they felt freer, increased mobility, and more aware of their posture both on and off the course. Aches and pains that often follow a golf holiday were noticeably reduced – and I now have more than a few new fans of posture therapy!
The feedback has been heart warming, and the camaraderie of the group made this trip truly special. We came for golf and movement, and left with stronger swings, straighter backs, and big smiles.
Turkey – you didn’t disappoint.
Here’s to the next one!
