Blessed by glorious weather throughout, what a wonderful surprise this 3 night/4 day tour in Wiltshire proved to be. Each golf club made us feel most welcome and all were presented in excellent condition. Our Hotel, the Best Western Centurion in Midsomer Norton, looked after us splendidly and the young staff particularly, should be congratulated for their friendly and very efficient service.
Our first days golf played at High Post, conveniently situated by the A303 close to Stonehenge, was a perfect meeting point before moving on to Midsomer Norton where Diane and Mike won the 4BBB with a splendid 44 pts. The second days play at Mendip GC with what surely are some of the most dramatic panoramic views anywhere, saw Rosemary and John lead the way on 37 pts. For the third round, at delightful Wells GC, not long but a great variety of holes on a mainly treelined course, we played an individual stableford won by John 35, r/up Mike 34 followed by Rosemary 33. Our final days play took us to West Wilts GC and again another most enjoyable and different test on this downland course set high above Warminster. Rosemary, husband Richard and Neil came out top by one point on 72 in the best two from three team event.
Congratulations to Neil Dangerfield. His round at Mendip on this tour was his 500th golf course played. Here is to the next 100!!
Iain, a great selection again!! I very much look forward to the South Wales Tour 21-24 July and Yorkshire 14-17 August. A few places are available for those who fancy a mid summer golfing break, in the British Isles, attended by many single and golfing couples alike.
