Our first day was to be at the excellent Costa Adeje Golf Club, home of the superb views on the front nine and quick challenging green on the 18! We went for a mixed pairs event and were blessed with a splendid sunny day with a nice feathering breeze. Despite combating some UK rustiness the scoring was good with Ray and Liz on 37 points. However tied for first place were Tim and Ronnie with Frank and Linda G. I didn’t go for a count back and they didn’t ask for a play off the following morning, so we agreed on a tie!
Monday we visited Amarilla and had a pairs event with Men’s and Ladies teams. Shot of the day belonged to Peter on the delightful par 3 12th by the marina, his precise iron shot covered the pin and finished just behind the hole, goodness knows how it didn’t go in. Picture in the gallery below. Winners on the day in the Ladies comp were Val and Linda G with an excellent 40 points and in the Men’s comp Tim and Richard triumphed with an eye catching 43 points and this with deciding not to score on one hole!
We returned to Costa Adeje on Tuesday and everyone was looking forward to improving their score as they knew the course better. It was a good temperature to play golf in and play was in teams of three with two scores to count per hole. After nine holes it was quite even between several teams. Richard, Liz and Trish went on to score 68 points, however with a real spurt on the back nine Tim, Linda G and Linda M amassed 75 points and won the day with ease. A nice meal in the Italian restaurant across from the hotel rounded off an excellent day.
The popular Las Americas was the venue for round four and weather was once again kind to us. Teeing off a little later we had a slight worry with the light, however we all made it in before the darkness came down. Two scores from the teams of four was the format and each team finished under par for the day. Tim’s winning streak came to an end today as Tony, Ray, Liz & Linda G triumphed with a very impressive 83 points. A quick turnaround after golf saw us at the White Windmill restaurant where the excellent food is augmented by the singing chef and later another talented singer.
A day off on Thursday to enjoy some sun or going was shopping was the order of the day for our group.
Our final golf day was at Golf del Sur. A sunny but breezy day greeted us, which added to the interest of what is already and interesting course. We opted for teams of four with two scores to count. The trio of Trish, Rae and Liz with a bit of assistance from yours truly managed to rattle up 78 points. This was due to some straight hitting from Rae, sure putting from Liz and a chip or two from the chip in queen, Trish. However, by a comfortable 7 points the team of Tim (yes again!), Tony, Ray and Patrick took the honours.
A final celebratory dinner at the excellent Rossini’s gave a nice end to a super week, blessed with good weather, good golf and very good company.
Look forward to seeing you all again.
All the best
