Such has become the demand for the New Year tour, that we now have two! And two very fine choices at that. Whilst I will be hosting our regular Vilamoura tour, Barney will be hosting his tour at one of the finest resort hotels in the Algarve, the Dona Filipa Hotel. With two rounds at San Lorenzo, two at Pinheiros Altos, one on the Royal course at Vale do Lobo, dinner at the hotel each evening and a New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner included too, you have the opportunity for an exceptional New Year’s week in the Algarve. For the 2017 / 2018 New Year tours we wanted to present two options of equal quality, which I believe we have achieved.
As has become the tradition over the years, the New Year Tour will be based in Vilamoura. We will stay at the excellent Tivoli Marina Hotel, which is not only high on quality, but ideally located for the restaurants and shops on the Marina front. With regards to the golf, we will play five of the top courses in the Vilamoura area. We have the usual favourites of Quinta do Lago Laranjal and South, as well as the Oceanico Old, Millennium and Victoria courses. Throughout the Tour, there will also be the opportunity for some informal golf lessons. Simply let me know if you would like some tuition and if so, clinics will be arranged accordingly.
For Christmas 2017 we return to the superb Robinsons Club in Tavira for our Christmas Golf Week. The Robinsons Club, which has also been our ‘Christmas home’ for some years now, as well as the location of most of our Portuguese ‘Golf & Coaching’ weeks, provides high class accommodation, superb service, excellent cuisine and a wonderfully relaxing setting. The terms of stay are also ‘All-Inclusive,’ thus providing excellent value for money. This year we will play two rounds each on Quinta da Cima and Quinta da Ria, both of which are on-site, as well as a round on the fabulous Monte Rei course, which is just a short drive away. Throughout the Tour, there will also be the opportunity for some informal golf lessons. Simply let me know if you would like some tuition and if so, clinics will be arranged accordingly.
With the third week of any our escorted golf tours, we try to apply a measured approach to the pace of the week, so that you can truly relax and enjoy the surroundings and the golf, before the return to the daily routine back at home.
Following the tremendous success of the 2016 Tenerife Golf Week, a repeat of the tour was never going to be in question for 2017. Barney will again be hosting the week, which provides a popular respite from the British winter. For this years’ tour Las Americas Golf Club, one of the finest courses on the Island and which in 2016 was ultimately unavailable due to a lack of available tee-times, will be played twice, such is the quality of the course. Rounds will also be played on Costa Adeje, Golf del Sur and Amarilla, which represents a fine week of golf. We have also enhanced the accommodation this year, as the breakfasts at last year’s hotel were not great. The accommodation this year is at the Iberostar Bouganville Playa Hotel in Costa Adeje, which presents excellent accommodation, a super setting by the ocean and is superbly located for the many restaurants in the area. With regards to the social side to the tour, Barney will again arrange restaurants each evening, thus ensuring that you experience some of the best golf and cuisine that Tenerife has to offer.
There are some golf tours that really capture the imagination and Arizona seems to be one of them. With all of our long haul trips, the quality of the golf is paramount, but it is often the setting, the environment and the culture that create that wonderful cocktail of a tour to remember. South Africa does it year in, year out, China and British Columbia in the past. May Arizona meet and exceed the pre-tour expectation. The tour commences in the iconic City of Las Vegas, where we will play two of the best courses in the area, as well as having an option to visit the Grand Canyon by helicopter, and of course have time to experience all that is Las Vegas. We then spend a couple of nights in Sedona in order to play the exceptional Sedona Golf Resort. The following eight nights will be spent in Scottsdale playing a variety of top courses in the region.
The objective of the David Short Golf and Coaching Weeks is to provide long term improvement to your golf game, whilst providing you with the opportunity to play some fascinating golf courses. You will learn the keys that will ensure continuing improvement to all parts of your game, as well as learn how to take your game to the course and how to develop your course management skills in order to play your best golf. Please note that the ‘Golf & Coaching Weeks’ are not suitable for novices.
We return to the quite superb Vidago Palace Hotel, near Porto, for another Golf Week. However, to keep the travelling to a minimum this year, we will only play one round off-site, as the majestic Estella Golf Club, and play four rounds on-site on the wonderful Vidago Palace course. Whilst the golf is excellent, it is the hotel that makes this week so special. The Vidago Palace Hotel is one of the finest hotels in Portugal and a member of the ‘Leading Hotels of the World’. The hotel is history, glamour, elegance and quality, all rolled into one. Clients often ask for a relaxing Golf Week, where the golf is predominantly on-site, and the setting allows for a relaxing and high quality week from which to lose oneself for a while. The Vidago Palace Hotel personifies this wish. With dinner and wine included each evening, five rounds of golf, a sumptuous hotel and also a very famous Spa on-site too, the Porto Golf Week presents the perfect opportunity to enjoy some excellent golf, unwind, relax and bask in the environment of a truly world-class hotel.
