For the last two seasons the ‘Golf & Coaching Weeks’ have been based at the superbly appointed Robinson Club in Tavira, in the eastern Algarve, which has both the Quinta da Ria and Quinta da Cima Golf Clubs onsite.
For Christmas 2016 we return to our traditional Christmas home, the wonderful Robinsons Club in Tavira for our golf tour. The Robinsons Club, where the majority of our ‘Overseas Golf & Coaching’ weeks take place, as well as the Christmas tour each year, provides high class accommodation, superb service, excellent cuisine and a wonderfully relaxing setting. The terms of stay at the hotel used to be ‘Full Board’, but have now become ‘All Inclusive.’ This has resulted in an inevitable rise in price, but in theory one’s ‘extra’s’ bill should be virtually negated. With regards to the golf we will play two rounds each on Quinta da Cima and Quinta da Ria, both of which are on-site, as well as a round on the fabulous Monte Rei course on Christmas Day, which is fitting way to celebrate the day. We only have 20 places available on the tour; hence early booking for this ever popular week is recommended. Throughout the Tour, there will also be the opportunity for some informal golf lessons. Simply let me know if you would like some tuition and if so, clinics will be arranged accordingly.
Assuming that you have decided to postpone the return to winter, we will be transferred from Colombo to Galle, which is further down the coast towards the southern tip of the Island for our Cultural Tour of Sri Lanka.
Following the tremendous success of last years’ ‘Madeira Golf Week’, we are duly returning for another golf week this year. The format this November will be as a ‘Golf Week with Golf Clinics’, providing the opportunity to spend a couple of hours each day under the careful watch of Mr Barney Puttick, one of the UK’s leading PGA coaching Pro’s. We have also changed the hotel to the 5 star Pestana Carlton Hotel, which is a super hotel, with a majestic setting by the ocean. The golf will take place at Palheiro Golf Club and Santo da Serra Golf Club, both of which are superb and both of which also have excellent tuition facilities for the morning Golf Clinics. With the sublime setting of the 5 star Pestana Carlton Hotel, the charm of Funchal, two wonderful golf courses, one of the best PGA Pro’s in the land as your host, and a warm climate, the ‘Maderia Golf Week with Golf Clinics’ is a good option to escape those UK November blues!
There are not many places on the European golf scene that we haven’t visited over the last 25 years, but Tenerife is one of them. Until November that is! Barney is hosting the golf week in Tenerife, which provides a popular respite from the onset of the British winter. With a very good 4 star hotel and five super rounds of golf, the week provides an ideal opportunity for some winter golf, with like minded clients. The hotel for the week is the Vincci Tenerife Golf Hotel and the five rounds of golf will be played at Costa Adeje (two rounds), Golf dur Sur and Amarilla.
~ COLOMBO ~ NUWARA ELIYA ~ KANDY For this years’ November golf tour we are heading to Sri Lanka, and I for one, can’t wait! An island with a great culture, a fascinating history, superb food, spectacular scenery, wonderful climate and three very special golf courses to be played. We are taking a new approach this year; the first two weeks of the tour will be the conventional golf tour format, with golf to be played in Colombo, Newara Eliya and Kandy. For the third week however, we are running a sightseeing only week in the region of Galle and Dambulla. With only four golf courses on the Island, one of which is difficult to reach geographically, we wanted to present the option of the golf tour, but also the opportunity to experience more of the island as well.
We have a real treat this October, a week at one of one of the finest hotels in Portugal and a member of the ‘Leading Hotels of the World’. The Vidago Palace Hotel is history, glamour, elegance and quality, all rolled into one and will make for a fabulous golf and coaching week in north Portugal. With dinners included each evening, five rounds of golf, three on-site, one over the border in Spain and a superb links course, the golf is also of the highest order. The Vidago Palace Hotel is also famed for its Spa; hence a perfect retreat to unwind and relax. We have enjoyed some wonderful ‘golf and cuisine weeks’ in Portugal in recent years, but I rather expect that this week will raise the bar even further, given the quality of the accommodation, golf and cuisine.
The objective of the David Short Golf and Coaching events is to provide long term improvement to your golf game, whilst providing you with the opportunity to play some fascinating golf courses. You will learn the keys that will ensure continuing improvement to all parts of your game, as well as learn how to take your game to the course and how to develop your course management skills in order to play your best golf. Please note that the Golf & Coaching Weeks are not suitable for novices
I am delighted that we are returning to Sweden. I have to confess to being a little sceptical in the lead up to the Malmo Golf Week last year and yet it was the highlight of the year for me! The Swedish hospitality, the golf courses, the hotel and even the weather were just amazing! I know that Sweden is not the most obvious destination for a golf tour, but my word it is certainly a good one! I am therefore immensely looking forward to the tour to Gothenburg and I very much that you will join me for what I am sure will be another fascinating and intriguing week of Nordic golf. With plenty of flights from all over the UK access to Gothenburg is very good. We will stay at a super hotel in the City and then play five of the top courses in the area, together with enjoying a half day City sightseeing tour on the Wednesday morning.
We make a welcome return to Emerald Isle and focus this year on south east Ireland and the County Wexford region. With a number of excellent courses in the area, very good ferry access from either the ‘Fishguard – Rosslare’ or the ‘Holyhead - Dublin route’ and of course the unrivalled Irish wit and charm, the week should be one to remember. Please note that if you are unable to attend for the full week, but would like to attend for a shorter duration, please let us know your individual requirements and we can adjust your booking and cost accordingly.
