For Christmas 2019, I am delighted to say that we are returning to the Hilton Vilamoura Hotel, which worked so well last year.
We have amended the golf programme slightly, to provide some annual variety. The golf itinerary features rounds on the famed local trio of the Old, Victoria and Millennium courses, as well as a round on the ever popular Quinta do Lago – Laranjal course and likewise the always sought after Royal course at Vale do Lobo.
With regards to dining, we have booked four dinners at the hotel this year, together with a Christmas Day lunch. I will book restaurants on the other three evenings, thereby providing the opportunity to have both the convenience of dining in the hotel, but also the opportunity to dine out at some fine establishments during the course of the week.
Throughout the Tour, there will also be the opportunity for some informal golf lessons. Simply let me know if you would like some tuition and if so, clinics will be arranged accordingly.
For Christmas 2019 we return to the superb Robinsons Club in Tavira, andthis year with my colleague and old friend, Graham Bradley. The Robinsons Club, which has also been our ‘Christmas home’ for many years now, as well as the location of a number of our Portuguese ‘Golf & Coaching’ weeks, provides high class accommodation, superb service, excellent cuisine and a wonderfully relaxing setting. The terms of stay are also ‘All-Inclusive,’ thus providing excellent value for money. This year we will play two rounds each on Quinta da Cima and Quinta da Ria, both of which are on-site, as well as the always popular Benamor course, which is just a short drive away.
Throughout the Tour, there will also be the opportunity for some informal golf lessons with Graham and myself. Simply let us know if you would like some tuition and if so, clinics will be arranged accordingly. This year we are again running two Christmas tours. Graham and I are hosting the Tavira tour, whereas Barney is hosting a week based in Vilamoura, playing five courses local to the area.
For the New Year Golf Tour we will say farewell to 2019 and bring in 2020 at one of the leading Golf Resorts in Portugal, the 5-Star Dona Filipa Resort in the Algarve. The golf is equally as good, with three rounds at the world-renowned San Lorenzo Golf Club and two rounds at the challenging Pinheiros Altos Golf Club.
With regards to the dining arrangements, we will dine at the hotel on five of the evenings, including enjoying what is always a fabulous New Years’ Eve Gala Dinner at the Resort. For the other two evenings, I will make dinner reservations at local restaurants.
Join me for what I am sure will be a wonderful farewell to 2019 and a fitting welcome to 2020, with a superb hotel, top quality golf and some pleasant warm winter sunshine. I must also stress that these tours are great social occasions, where the camaraderie of the week is of prime importance.
To book your place on the New Year Dona Filipa Golf Tour, please contact Iain Tym at ‘David Short Golf’ and he send you the confirmation details accordingly.
Although we have spent many a Christmas at the Robinson Club, this is our first New Year tour and I am sure that it will be a memorable one.
The Robinson Club really does provide the most wonderful environment in which to relax, enjoy some fine golf, excellent facilities and the hotel provides great value too, given that the terms of stay are ‘All-Inclusive’.
We will say farewell to 2019 and bring in 2020 at the ever popular Dona Filipa Resort. For the 2019/2020 programme, we have fine-tuned both the golf arrangements and the dining arrangements, with the aim of strengthening the quality of the week.
In terms of the golf, we are including two rounds at San Lorenzo, one at Pinheiros Altos, and a round each at the Quinta do Lago South course and the Vale do Lobo Royal course. All four courses are located close to the hotel and represent the finest golf in the area.
With regards to the dining arrangements, two dinners at the hotel are included in the tour programme, firstly on the arrival night and secondly the New Years’ Eve Gala Dinner. I will make dinner reservations at local restaurants on the other evenings.
For the tour this year, please also note that the rooms are based on the Resort’s ‘Superior Rooms’. However, there is the option to take the slightly less expensive ‘Classic Rooms’, with the cost saving illustrated in the notes section of the pricing summary.
For the 2019/2020 New Year period, we are running two tours at the Dona Filipa Resort, our colleague Graham Bradley is hosting the other tour, which has a slightly different golf and dining programme. We therefore only have a limited number of places available on this tour, and I would therefore ask you to advise Iain as soon as practical, if you wish to book your place on the tour.
