La Cala Golf Week with Clinics, 2-9 May 2015

Always a popular week and this year blessed with 7 days of idyllic golfing weather. The sun shone throughout, temperatures were in the low to mid seventies with a light breeze and a group of sixteen playing in the  friendliest of atmospheres, albeit keen to have end of day bragging rights! This La Cala Week was arguably the best yet.

Obviously, lovely weather helps greatly and this resort is becoming a firm favourite with many of our clients. While the three 18 hole golf courses are built in hilly terrain and are certainly better for knowing, they offer a great variety, spectacular views, presented in very good condition and whilst initially intimidating to some, a fair test throughout. Buggies are necessarily included and the Resort golf staff run a smooth operation. The Academy is a five minute transfer from the hotel and while it would not suit a full G&C week it is quite adequate for a little light coaching on the Golf with Clinic weeks.

The Hotel is always well received and it was notable this year that our inclusive dinners, taken from the A la Carte menu, where considered by all those returnees to be both a wider selection and of improved quality. Along with good accommodation, most bedrooms have far reaching views of the golf course or mountains. The courtyard is an idyllic pre dinner drinks meeting point and the large outdoor pool and excellent Spa where much appreciated.

We commenced the golf with a team event on the Europa course and I was quietly confident our 88 points would prove a winning score never mind only good enough for third place with a 91& 93 ahead of us! Rosemary leading the winning team with far from her only victory of the week. A further team event on day two over the America course saw her in the winners circle again and when on the third day, she with husband Richard, scored 44 pts for her third consecutive victory in a 4bbb, this time on the Asia layout,  it was beginning to look like a clean sweep.

DSG-LaCala-May-2015-3Following a well earned rest day we played our singles event and David Hirst pipped Steve 38 to 37, while guess who was the leading lady on 35.

David, obviously contemplating his winning formula!

Our final days 4 BBB paired Richard with Ronnie Hirst making him a double mixed 4BBB winner and our two couples prolific winners of this week.

As mentioned earlier, this is becoming a firm favourite, so early bookings for next visit are advised as numbers are restricted.

Hope to see you soon.
