It was good to be back at South Africa’s No.1 golf resort after a break of some 6 years for our Golf Week. More so, I am pleased to be able to report that it appears to have been restored to its original standards. Re vamped rooms and improved restaurants, complimented by 3 golf courses in exceptional condition. While the Montague course is the better test, playing the Outinique course is akin to playing in a huge garden and is simply beautiful. A warm up area is available before play with full facilities and unlimited balls to complete this unrivaled resort.
Barbara, Trish, Tony and Arnold won the first day on the Montague with 76 pts. Barbara, for the second day running, along side Alan and myself won a tightly contested team event on the Outinique where the five scores were 69, 70, 71, 72 & 73. Alan made it a double on the third day playing with Bob, Liz and Val, scoring a comfortable 4 shot victory and excellent 82 pts.
Our penultimate day singles competition brought in Patrick as the winner on the back nine from Jean, the leading lady, with 33 pts and Kenneth in third place on 31. To keep the back to back victory scenario going, Patrick and Tony won the final days 4bbb competition by three from Bob and Mike who pipped Arnold and Jean 19pts to 18 on the back nine.
The numbers are limited, but Fancourt is again on the agenda for February 2018 so get your names down quickly for that one.
