• Overview

Our hotel for the tour is the charming Rombalds Hotel in Ilkley. The hotel has had its doors open to weary travellers and explorers of the ‘Moor’ since 1835 when the hotel began its life as a West Yorkshire rooming house. Today the hotel has been lovingly and extensively refurbished to restore it to its former glory as a classic Yorkshire Country House. It exudes Georgian charm and style from every nook and cranny not to mention that unmistakable Yorkshire warmth and friendliness.

  • Itinerary

    Thursday 13th August:

    – 18 holes Ilkley Golf Club

    – Check in to the Rombalds Hotel, Ilkley

    – Dinner at the hotel

    Ilkley Golf Club

Ilkley Golf Club is one of the finest golf clubs in Yorkshire, both in terms of beauty and as a test of golf. Ilkley Golf Club is where Honorary Life Member Colin Montgomerie learnt his golf. It is also proud to have another Ryder Cup Captain, Mark James as an Honorary Life Member. Nestled in the beautiful Wharfe Valley with the famous Moor as a backdrop, Ilkley is one of the most picturesque courses in the country. However, we must not be fooled by its beauty, as the River Wharfe is an ever-present threat for the first seven holes of this tree-lined course. With a par of 69 and a standard scratch of 70, the 6,276 yard course is a great deal more difficult than it might first appear. Commenting on the course, Monty said “Although I have played golf on the finest courses in the world, Ilkley Golf Club will always have a special place in my heart. The course combines a challenging test of golf with breathtaking scenery and it is always a pleasure to play there.”

    Friday 14th August:

    – Breakfast

    – 18 holes Keighley Golf Club

    – Dinner at the hotel

    Keighley Golf Club

This hidden gem nestles in the picturesque Aire Valley. The beautiful parkland course has developed over the last 100 years into a true test of golf. Well defined fairways and superb greens are complemented by mature and recently planted trees that provide definition for every hole. A round at Keighley Golf Club offers a challenge for the most accomplished golfer but one that the club golfer can also face without being overpowered. The course is certainly a challenge. It is one on which the skills of three Yorkshire Champions, Arnold Fell (1931), Roger Mitchell (1975) and Phil Wood (1990/94) have been honed and tempered. It is perhaps a measure of the course that Wood, Yorkshire Captain from 1994 to 1996, should elect the par-four 17th as his favourite hole and nominate it as ‘one of the most difficult and dangerous finishing holes in Yorkshire golf’.

    Saturday 15th August:

    – Breakfast

    – 18 holes Northcliffe Golf Club

    – Dinner at the hotel

    Northcliffe Golf Club

Northcliffe Golf Club is situated in the heart of West Yorkshire on the outskirts of Shipley, overlooking the beautiful Aire Valley. It boasts an 18-hole course set in some 100 acres of

parkland, and hosts some of the most scenic and challenging holes in Yorkshire. The Yorkshire Golfer Magazine describes the approach to the first tee as “jaw dropping”. The signature 18th hole, a par 3 from an elevated tee into a narrow green alongside a ravine, is described as “breathtaking” and “one of golf’s great finishing holes”.

    Sunday 16th August:

    – Breakfast

    – Check out of the hotel

    – 18 holes Bradford Golf Club

    Bradford Golf Club

The Bradford Golf Club extends a warm and friendly Yorkshire welcome to all visitors. Set in peaceful and tranquil countryside near the hamlet of Hawksworth, the Club is only 10 miles from Leeds and 8 miles from Bradford. This Herbert Fowler classic stands proudly alongside his other English master-pieces, Walton Heath, The Berkshire and Delamere Forest to name but a few. Fowler created some of the finest examples of heathland golf, which so closely resembles the traditional seaside links courses. Whilst over the years our current course has become more parkland, the Club have commenced an eight year plan showcasing the Fowler heritage, by removing trees and adding back original bunkers, which has resulted in a dramatic and quite wonderful transformation.
