• Overview

If you wish to stay for a shorter duration than the three weeks, please let us know and this will not be a problem at all.  We will reprice the itinerary for you and put the necessary arrangements in place.  Furthermore, if you wish to break up the journey with stopovers in Singapore or other destinations, we can assist with these arrangements if required.

Please note that for this tour, we have included the cost of the internal flights within the tour price.  Due to the logistics of the tour, we need everyone travelling together on the same internal flights; hence it was more prudent on this occasion to include the costs of the flights in the tour prices.

I know it’s a long way to travel, but I very much hope that you will join me on what should be an experience that will live with us forever.  If so, please email, call or let us know via the web-site, and we will send you the booking confirmation details accordingly.

Saturday 17th November – Welcome to Taupo

Upon arrival at Taupo, we will be met by our local representative and transferred to Millennium Hotel & Resort, and it’s quite superb setting overlooking the lake. With spacious rooms, super views and excellent facilities, the hotel is the ideal base for this stage of the tour.  With the serenity of Lake Taupo and the immensity of the surrounding mountains, New Zealand’s volcanic heartland is truly captivating and it is also home to two of New Zealand’s most deftly designed golf courses, Wairakei and Kinloch, both of which we will play.

Overnight at the Millennium Hotel & Resort, Lake Taupo

Sunday 18th November – Wairakei Golf & Sanctuary

Wairakei, a golf course in a wildlife sanctuary, has to be the quintessential New Zealand golf experience.  This could be the quietest course ever with the only sounds from the protected native birds and the echo of club on ball. The course features numerous gorgeous golf holes that wind their way one after the other through deep native bush.  It is a super course and a truly unique experience to play it.

Overnight at the Millennium Hotel & Resort, Lake Taupo

Monday 19th November – Rotorua Sightseeing

Nestled beside Lake Rotorua, the town of Rotorua is home to one of the most unique tourism sites in the world.  Aside from the breath-taking scenery of this volcanic-shaped wonderland, the many beautiful lakes in the region and the lush green of the abundant native flora, Rotorua is a geothermal paradise and cultural heartland.  The following attractions are included in our day of sightseeing:

    Wai-o-tapu Thermal Wonderland
We will absorb the unique features of Wai-o-tapu, including the world famous champagne pool, geysers, bubbling mud, steaming ground, expansive vistas, huge volcanic craters and sinter terrace formations.  The natural bush setting adds another dimension to the experience as does the guaranteed daily eruption of the Lady Knox Geyser at 10.15am.

Te Puia, New Zealand’s living Maori cultural centre, geothermal wonderland and kiwi enclosure
Situated in the Whakarewarewa Geothermal Valley, Te Puia’s 60 hectare site is home to the New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute, a live kiwi enclosure, the world-famous Pohutu Geyser, and more than 500 natural geothermal wonders.

    Huka Falls
The previously placid waters roar and rumble at great speed along a ravine before bursting into space out over Huka Falls to crash into a turbulent pool 11 metres below.  A foot bridge right at the top of the falls puts us in a prime position to get up close and witness the frightening display of more than 220,000 litres of water pouring over the falls every second.

Overnight at the Millennium Hotel & Resort, Lake Taupo

Tuesday 20th November – The Kinloch Club

Designed by 18 time Major winner Jack Nicklaus, The Kinloch Club offers unique design features, with every hole requiring strategic thought and patience.  The course is a fantastic test for all golfing abilities, and has been recognised worldwide with numerous accolades including a Top 100 in the World ranking from Golf Course Architecture Magazine.   In discovering Kinloch, the overall experience will pleasantly surprise us for the unique challenge that the course presents.  It is fair to say that at Kinloch, Nicklaus has created one of the world’s great modern designs to date.

Wednesday 21st November – From Taupo to Hawkes Bay and Cape Kidnappers Golf Club

We head to Hawkes Bay today on the eastern side of North Island.  Hawke’s Bay is loved for its sunny climate, fabulous beaches, sheltered coastal plains and long-established vineyards. There are so many ‘must dos’ when one visits Hawke’s Bay, and we’ll do some of them!  Considered to be the Art Deco capital of New Zealand by many, home to the world’s largest Gannet Colony, New Zealand’s oldest Farmers Market and over 70 wineries.  Hawke’s Bay is also home to Cape Kidnapper’s Golf Club, with its stunning sea views, playing high above the ocean atop dramatic cliffs. It is built on a ridge-and-valley landscape and has been hailed as one of the great modern marvels in golf.  Indeed, we will play the first of two rounds at Cape Kidnappers in the afternoon.  Designed by respected US architect Tom Doak, the superbly challenging course is the result of clever design and respect for the natural landscape. Cape Kidnappers is currently ranked 22nd on Golf Digest’s prestigious ‘World Top 100’ list; hence the desire to play it twice!  After the round, we will check in to the superb Scenic Hotel Te Pania in Napier.

Thursday 22nd November –  Hawkes Bay Wine Tour

We are on the New Zealand wine trail today.  We will taste some of the best wines Hawke’s Bay has to offer and also indulge in some local food attractions.  We will visit three or four Wineries, enjoy various wine tastings, as well as a mid-afternoon cheese tasting session.  Hawke’s Bay is New Zealand’s second largest wine region, having been an abundant source of fine wine since 1851. Its well-established wine tourism trail also showcases the region’s art deco architecture and artisan producers.

Friday 23rd November – Another round at Cape Kidnappers

We return to Cape Kidnappers Golf Club today for a second round on what really is one of the world’s finest courses. Having travelled so far, it only seems right to  play a course of this nature twice, to truly appreciate its design and setting.

Overnight at the Scenic Hotel Te Pania, Napier

Saturday 24th November Departures and onward to the South Island

After breakfast, we check out of the hotel, say farewell to Hawkes Bay and head to Queenstown on the South Island to commence the third week of the tour.  The journey will be by plane from Napier to Queenstown with a transfer from Queenstown Airport to our hotel.  The cost of the internal flight is included within the tour cost.
