• Overview

If you wish to stay for a shorter duration than the three weeks, please let us know and this will not be a problem at all.  We will reprice the itinerary for you and put the necessary arrangements in place.  Furthermore, if you wish to break up the journey with stopovers in Singapore or other destinations, we can assist with these arrangements if required.

Please note that for this tour, we have included the cost of the internal flights within the tour price.  Due to the logistics of the tour, we need everyone travelling together on the same internal flights; hence it was more prudent on this occasion to include the costs of the flights in the tour prices.

I know it’s a long way to travel, but I very much hope that you will join me on what should be an experience that will live with us forever.  If so, please email, call or let us know via the web-site, and we will send you the booking confirmation details accordingly.

Saturday 10th November – Welcome to New Zealand, North Island and the Northland region

On arrival into Auckland we will be met by a local representative and accompanied to the domestic terminal for the flight to Northland.  The cost of the internal flight is included within the tour cost. On arrival into Northland, we will be met and transferred to the Copthorne Hotel, which overlooks the incredible Bay of Islands. The Northland region has many important historic sites, which makes it a place of deep significance for New Zealanders. The region is home to the Bay of Islands, an area with over 140 islands and unspoiled beaches, and it is quite simply a superb location to commence our tour of New Zealand.

Sunday 11th November – Bay of Islands

Our first full day will be at a very relaxed pace.  The morning will be at leisure and in the afternoon we will enjoy a cruise in the Bay of Islands.  We will search for dolphins and other marine life, from our catamaran, the Dolphin Seeker, as we journey around the Bay of Islands right to the end of the Cape Brett Peninsula, to the famous Hole in the Rock on Motukokako Island.  We will need to keep an eye out for common and bottlenose dolphins, whales and other marine life.  Our hosts for the cruise have years of experience locating dolphins in these waters.

Monday 12th Novmeber – Kauri Cliffs Golf Club

Our golf programme commences at arguably New Zealand’s finest all-round course, Kauri Cliffs Golf Club, which sits on a cliff-top near the northern tip of the North Island. Designed by the late David Harman to feature the natural landscape, Kauri Cliffs has earned the admiration of many world-class golfers and consistently rates in the world’s top 50 golf courses as selected by golf publications and websites. Along with the challenge, we will enjoy majestic views of the Pacific Ocean from at least 15 holes, including six holes on the edge of the cliff-top.

Tuesday 13th November – Departures, Wainui Golf Club and onward to Auckland

Today we check out of the hotel and firstly travel south by road for approximately 2 hours to the exquiste Wainui Golf Club.  Home to the latest Puddicombe Golf Design, the championship layout in the rolling hills of Wainui, stands apart as one of the finest golf layouts in the North Island.  The Wainui course is an 18-hole, 6,485 metre par 72 course that excites scratch golfers and challenges novices.  The course incorporates the natural topography of the New Zealand countryside and captures the rugged beauty of Kiwi landscapes. Wainui offers golfers of all levels pristine golf surfaces, five tee deck options, varied shot options from the tee with multiple layup areas all on sand capped fairways.  Having completed our round, we will drive for a further 45 minutes to the marvellous city of Auckland, where we will check in to the SkyCity Hotel.

Wednesday 14th November – Titirangi Golf Club and City Tour

We have a combination of golf and sightseeing today.  In the morning we will play Titirangi Golf Club, which is just 15 minutes’ drive from downtown Auckland.  Designed by the renowned British designer Dr Alister MacKenzie, the course opened in the 1920s, and is a shot maker’s course that features MacKenzie’s signature bunkering. Though not long, this course is described as brutally strategic.  The most memorable hole, the par 5 13th, is short but demanding, with a narrow fairway and a tee box placed behind a tree-shrouded gully which obscures both the green and the fairway.

In the afternoon we will enjoy a guided city tour. Auckland is frequently rated as one of the world’s most liveable cities, with world-class shopping, restaurants, bars and galleries, encircled by wine regions, stunning beaches, pristine rainforest and the magnificent Hauraki Gulf.  The city is based around two large harbours. In the centre, the iconic Sky Tower has views of the Viaduct Harbour, which is full of yachts and lined with bars and cafes. Auckland Domain, the city’s oldest park, is based around an extinct volcano and home to the formal Wintergardens. Near Downtown, Mission Bay Beach has a seaside promenade, all of which we will see at first hand on the tour.

Thursday 15th November – Waiheke Island Gourmet Food & Wine Tour (Full day)

Today we travel by ferry to Waiheke Island. Waiheke Island is 92 square kilometres of sandy beaches, vineyards, native bush settings, pristine coastline, olive groves and laid back seaside villages and is only a 35 minute cruise from Auckland.  Having been met by a local island guide, we will enjoy succulent fresh oysters, award-winning olive oil and other locally produced speciality foods, accompanied by wines from some of the Island’s top boutique vineyards.  Our guide will provide an entertaining and informative commentary along the way.  We will visit an award winning olive oil mill, followed by two vineyards, each offering a range of gourmet tastes to accompany their wines.  Treats may include oysters straight from Te Matuku Bay, wild honey, the famous local green herb spread and artisan cheeses.  The day also includes a platter lunch at one of the top vineyard restaurants.

Friday 16th November – Windross Farm Golf Club

We are back on the fairways today at Windross Farm Golf Club.  Windross Farm is a spectacular golf course located only 35 minutes south of Auckland.  Designed by Brett Thomson with course consultant, Phil Tataurangi, the course is known for its challenging degrees of interest.  Apart from the undulating greens, 38 bunkers and minimal tree presence, the major feature of the course is the water in its many forms with four large lakes interlaced with numerous burns (streams) threading their way in and out of impressive, yet imposing, wetland areas. It is a course that can be challenging or challenged by any level of player on every hole and every shot.

Saturday 17th November – Departures and onward to Taupo

After breakfast, we check out of the hotel, say farewell to Auckland and head to Taupo.  The journey will be by plane from Auckland to Taupo with a transfer from Taupo Airport to the Millennium Hotel & Resort overlooking Lake Taupo.
