For the summer 2014 season we are delighted to present a trio of long weekend breaks in wonderful regions of the Country. Our first long weekend golf tour is in Wiltshire and Somerset, playing four of the most beautiful courses in the two Counties. From the break taking views of High Post Golf Club, to the tranquillity of Wells Golf Club, we will experience four fine golf courses, set in wonderful environments. Our hotel for the tour is the Centurion Hotel in Midsomer Norton. Providing superb accommodation and cuisine, the hotel is an ideal base for the tour. Thursday 19th June:
– 18 holes High Post Golf Club
– Check in to the Centurion Hotel, Midsomer Norton
– Dinner at the hotel
High Post Golf Club The warmest of welcomes awaits you at this classic and rare down-land golfing experience, with arguably the finest and quickest greens in the south of England. Established in 1922, the English Golf Union has recognised the course as a great test of golf by asking the Club to host the Carris Trophy in 1999 and the English Boys Open in 2008; both of which attracted strong international fields. High Post’s reputation is further enhanced by the legendary Peter Alliss, who once rated the ninth hole in his top 18 dream holes in the UK.
Friday 20th June:
– 18 holes The Mendip Golf Club
– Dinner at the hotel
The Mendip Golf Club Located on the north facing slope of the Mendips at an elevation of almost 1,000ft, the Mendip Golf Club is widely regarded as one of the best golf courses in Somerset. With its fairways of springy downland turf, the Mendip Golf Club boasts lies that some golfers can only dream about. Visitors to this splendid Somerset golf course can enjoy unparalleled views over seven counties, including the mountains of Wales, the spectacular King Arthur’s Vale of Avalon, the mysterious Glastonbury Tor and across to Bridgwater Bay and Exmoor.
Saturday 21st June:
– 18 holes Wells Golf Club
– Dinner at the hotel
Wells Golf Club The woodland course is designed on two levels. Holes 2 to 11 circle the hills and offer fine scenic views of the surrounding countrywide and the famous Wells Cathedral. The holes provide undulating fairways which provide some interesting lies. The remaining holes play along the valley, where accurate drives are essential. A super course, which I am sure will be enjoyed by all.
Sunday 22nd June:
– Check out of the hotel
– 18 holes West Wilts Golf Club
West Wilts Golf Club West Wilts is an extremely friendly traditional member’s golf club situated on the edge of Warminster and Salisbury Plain. Set in the Wiltshire Downs, the club was established in 1891 and the course, designed by J. H. Taylor, has excellent fairways and greens on chalk down-land with superb views over three counties. The course has many of the same characteristics as an inland links and being 5,754 yards long, (Par 70, SSS 68) with 50 bunkers and relatively small greens. It provides players of all standards with a fair test of golf.
