• Overview

The 4-Star Guadalmina Spa & Golf Resort provides the ideal location for a week of relaxation, super golf and excellent cuisine. The Resort is located in one of Marbella’s smartest districts, next to Playa Sergio, and a stone’s throw from the hotel’s two 18-hole golf courses. The 178 rooms have warm decor, marble bathrooms, furnished terraces, flat-screen TVs and minibars. The Resort’s Spa is superb and with two restaurants, three bars and a large ocean-view pool, the Resort really does provide an ideal retreat for the week.

Atalaya Golf & Country Club – Old Course

Designed by Bernard von Limburger, the 1925 German Golf Championships winner, the Atalaya Old course provides a challenge to golfers at all levels. Elegant and mature with spectacular views of the magnificent La Concha mountain, it is the perfect oasis of tranquillity on the otherwise bustling and vibrant Costa del Sol. What appears to be a straightforward parkland course with gently sloping fairways is deceptive, as the plentiful bunkers filled with sparkling ‘marmolina’ sand, fast greens, lush vegetation and fairways lined with olive, pine, cactus and eucalyptus trees, provide a super challenge.

Real Club de Golf Guadalmina – North Course

The North Course of the Real Club de Golf Guadalmina will certainly appeal to any player with a bit of experience. The trees and water hazards that crop up along the 18 holes are the main difficulties of the course; hence prudence is a virtue that we will need to exercise as we play. Along the way, we will find two major highlights; hole 7, a par-4 that requires a great deal of precision, and hole 17, where we will have to carefully select our strategy to reach the green.

Real Club de Golf Guadalmina – South Course

With the Mediterranean Sea right at our feet at holes 10 and 11, the South Course of the Real Club de Golf Guadalmina is waiting for us test our skills. The 18 holes of the South course are quite a challenge. The wide fairways are free of rough and water, but don’t let that fool us into letting our guard down, as precision is the name of the game to score well on the course.

    Alcaidesa Links Golf Course

Alcaidesa Links Golf Club, which opened in June 1992, is an experience that cannot be found anywhere else in Spain. It is the closest experience to a links course in the country. Located in San Roque, the course has recently undergone an extensive programme of restructuring. The fairways have been improved and widened, new 10th and 11th holes have been built, and the greens have been levelled off, the result being that the layout is now much more forgiving and acceptable for golfers of all abilities. Magnificent views over the Mediterranean to Gibraltar offer one an excuse to take a breather at the cliff top to drink in the scene before tackling the next hole.

    Valle Romano Golf Club

Valle Romano Golf, in Estepona, is an outstanding 18-hole course, fitted out to play host to the most demanding and prestigious tournaments. Its design guarantees the enjoyment by amateur golfers, while being transformed into a challenging circuit for professionals. With an average of five tees per hole and spacious greens with many flag positions, as well as overlooking the sea, Valle Romano is a course to enjoy in all senses of the word.
