• Overview

The Fancourt Resort is quite simply one of the leading golf resorts in the world and is home to three of the best golf courses in South Africa. The accommodation at Fancourt is superb and the facilities of the resort include a holistic spa, four restaurants and many indoor and outdoor leisure facilities.  We have ‘1-Bedroom Suites’ booked which come complete with a separate living area.  They provide a spacious haven where guests can spread out and unwind, with each suite including a private balcony or patio designed to showcase the idyllic views of Fancourt’s manicured estate.

The Outeniqua course, ranked 17 in South Africa by Golf Digest, presents an 18-hole parkland layout that is tailored to provide a laid-back golfing experience. Designed by Gary Player and named after the mountain range that forms its breath-taking backdrop, the course is always in pristine condition.  The third course at Fancourt is the ‘Links course’.  Available at a supplement of approximatly £300.00, the Links course is what Gary Player has described as his greatest feat as a course designer.  Featuring an undulating, windswept terrain and dune-style landscape, the course is the collaborative handiwork of golfing icon, Gary Player, course designer, Phil Jacobs and Fancourt’s owner, Dr Hasso Plattner.

The Montagu course, also designed by Gary Player, has developed into one of the finest 18-hole parkland layouts in South Africa, earning it the number 6 position on Golf Digest South Africa’s list of top golf courses in the country. Exquisitely conditioned to provide a riveting golfing experience, this tree-lined course covers large tracts of varying terrain on rolling land.

The Fancourt ‘Links course’, is the course that Gary Player has described as his greatest feat as a course designer.

The Links is currently voted number one in the country by Golf Digest South Africa, and as number 34 in Golf Digest US edition’s list of the world’s 100 greatest golf courses.  Transformed from an airfield into a piece of environmental and golfing heritage, The Links has hosted some of the most prestigious tournaments in the world, including the Presidents Cup (2003), the SA Open (2005) and the 2012 Volvo Golf Champions European Tour. Inspired by the famous links courses of the British Isles, The Links is considered a masterpiece and plays host to a range of global golfing legends including John Bland, Justin Rose, Retief Goosen, Branden Grace and Ernie Els.  The Links is a private Club, but limited tee times are available for guests staying at Fancourt, and if you do wish to play the course, please let us know and we will make the appropriate arrangements.
