We have, for many years, vistited the Garden Route and stayed at either the Simola Golf & Country Club in the hills above Knysna, or in Plettenburg Bay. And yet Knysna itself is one of the most wonderful towns in South Africa; indeed it is often voted as South Africa’s most favourite town. This year the tour will be based in Knysna itself, but not at one of the resort hotels. We are using three super guest houses – the Knysana Country House, Stannards House and the Overmeer Guest House, all of which provide spacious, elegant rooms in super settings, with true South African hospitality. . The Knysna Country House and the Stannards House are both located in the Hunters
Home district of the town, which is the area that leads down to the Knysna Heads. The Overmeer Guest House is located on the hill towards the back of the town, with stunning views overlooking the Knysna estuary and lagoon. All three guest houses provide excellent quality and larger rooms than one would normally expect. in a hotel. The character of the properties will also greatly enhance the experience of the week. The cost to stay in the Knysna Country House and the Stannards House is the same, but there is a supplement to stay at the Overmeer Guest House, as it is the most exclusive of the three properties. When booking your place on the tour, please let us know your accommodation preference. Overnight in Knysna

Monday 18th November Simola Golf Club
Our first round of golf is at Simola – a favourite among clients for many years. Keeping your head down when playing the course can be a challenge as the views around the course are awe-inspiring. Simola is the first Jack Nicklaus signature course on the Garden Route, reflecting the maestro’s philosophy of attuning the layout and design to the natural lie of the land. The course offers challenge and reward amidst the spectacular scenery. Set below the high ridges, the course is free from the wind that so often plagues coastal courses. The fairways flow with the natural undulating contours of the terrain and the unusual configuration of five par 5’s and five par 3’s adds a new dimension to the round.
It’s par for the course that every hole boasts exceptional views; either out across the Knysna Lagoon all the way to the Heads or over the
picturesque Knysna River as it twists and turns through the valley below. Overnight in Knysna

Plettenberg Bay Golf Club
Today we play Plettenberg Bay Golf Club, another favourite with clients. The course is easy to walk, and the two main inclines can be observed from the veranda of the club house. Lush Kikuyu grass fairways and bayview greens recently over seeded to bent grass, provide players with an excellent playing surface. The course also has no intrusive houses or traffic noise and is populated only with indigenous flora and fauna. The natural beauty of the course has been carefully retained. Baboons, vervet monkeys, birdlife like the Knysna loerie and woodpeckers as well as the occasional bushbuck and deer, are the most likely distraction to our game. Overnight in Knysna
Wednesday 20th November Sightseeing
The theme for today’s sightseeing day will be game viewing. Elephants, tigers, buffalo, leopard, lion, rhino, monkeys, to name but a few. We will visit two or three different venues to provide a wide ranging day of sightseeing. As with the more general sightseeing day, if you have any particular requests, please let David know and we will incorprate them into the programme for the day, as best we can. Overnight in Knysna
Thursday 21st November Knysna Golf Club
Knysna Golf Club nestles on the shores of the Knysna Lagoon and close to the Heads. The course meanders through tidal pools and between magnificent indigenous trees and is an interesting parkland layout that has been enhanced over the past ten years with some of the best grass greens in the Southern Cape. Although flat and easy to walk, the course still provides players of all levels with a good challenge.

Friday 22nd November Pezula Golf Club
We go from the pleasant and relatively straightforward challenge of Knysna Golf Club, to the breathtaking, award-winning Pezula Golf Club, which provides one of the ultimate challenges in the area. A tough test of golf, with some of the best scenery from a golf course in South Africa. We are ending our golf on the Garden Route with quite a challenge.
