• Overview

The 2015 South Africa Tour was a success, but we have made enhancements to the logistical arrangements for this tour.  The transportation will be in luxury mini-coaches with spacious reclining seats and we have employed the services of specialist tour guides for the sightseeing days. With the dinners in the evenings we will be pre-booking restaurants each night as usual, but also encouraging clients to dine independantly if they wish, as the culinary scene in South Africa is both superb and diverse and we don’t want clients to feel that they must dine with the group all of the time.

We have also extended the tour by a week in order to give you more choice of the weeks that you may wish to attend. This should also ensure that the number of clients attending each week does not become too excessive. Ultimately these tours are about creating personal experiences that will live long in the memory and our ethos is very much about caring for you, our client, and ensuring that you feel very much at the heart of what we do.  You may of course book all four weeks, but equally please select the combination of weeks that is best for you and we will book you in accordingly.  If you wish to book for South Africa 2016, please contact us and let the countdown to a wonderful tour commence!

Wednesday 3rd February – Welcome to South Africa

For clients wanting to experience Cape Town, but unable to attend ‘Week 4’ of the tour, we have arranged a pre-tour stay in Cape Town. Cape Town really is one of the most stunning cities in the world and we would certainly urge clients to spend a few nights there. The accommodation for the pre-tour stay is at the Portswood Hotel, which is located next to the famous V&A Waterfront. The Portswood Hotel is a good 4 star hotel and ideally located for a short stay in Cape Town. The hotel is also seen as a piece of Cape Town’s history; the restaurant and lobby are built around the original well and holding cells for prisoners en route to Robben Island in the 18th century. David will be arriving for the pre-tour Cape Town stay; hence the three days will be run in line with the rest of the tour itinerary.

Thursday 4th February– Royal Cape Golf Club

The Royal Cape Golf Club is very much the establishment course of the Cape Town area. Established over 100 years ago, the course has now evolved into what it is today, a classic parkland course that provides a fine test of golf as well as a wonderful playing experience. The course is in superb year round condition with well grassed fairways, smooth greens and challenging bunkers. It also boasts magnificent views of Table Mountain. Although the course is on flat terrain, the playing of Royal Cape is subject to three of nature’s beguiling offerings, a near constant wind to challenge us, sweeping mountain views to charm and distract us and water features to ensnare us! The Royal Cape golf course is without doubt one of the best and most challenging courses to play both in the Western Cape. It is a course of championship stature, playing to a par of 72 and which has hosted the South African Open on ten occasions as well as many other professional and top amateur events.

Friday 5th February – Cape Town Tour

We will today embrace all of the most demanding tourist attractions in and around Cape Town. Johan Wolmarans, one of the leading tour guides in Cape Town will be joining us for the day and showing us the very best of the region. ‘Table Cloth’ permitting, we will firstly venture up Table Mountain by cable car, to take in what are some of the most awe inspiring views imaginable. From Table Mountain we will then drive to Hout Bay and take a boat to do some seal viewing at Seal Island. From Hout Bay we will drive along the stunning Chapman’s Peak and head to Cape Point for some wine tasting at the Cape Point Wine Estate in Noordhoek. We will also visit Boulders Beach, famous for its penguins, before heading back in the afternoon to the hotel. Johan will take us to the Two Oceans Restaurant for lunch, although the cost of lunch should be paid individually on the day.
