• Overview

Our Shropshire Golf Tour sees us staying at the Lion Hotel and visiting the following courses.

    The Lion Hotel

The Lion Hotel in Shrewsbury combines stunning 16th Century architecture with every classical comfort.  The hotel is famous for its warm and friendly hospitality and traditional character, and the hotel is perfectly situated to enable us to enjoy all that Shrewsbury has to offer.

    Lilleshall Hall Golf Club

Lilleshall Hall Golf Club is a members’ Club that is set in a quiet and picturesque area of rolling Shropshire countryside untroubled by traffic noise. It is a relatively flat course making for easy walking and is a favourite with visiting golfers, who come back time after time to enjoy the hospitality of a friendly Club and its modern clubhouse.

    Welshpool Golf Club

Welshpool Golf Club is a hillside course where the landscape provides a remarkable golfing experience. There is never a dull moment during an endless run of unique undulating holes. The fairways afford superb lies leading to excellent greens throughout.  A thrilling 4 hours of golfing adventure in which we think we’ve seen it all until we reach the incredible climax.  The 18th fairway snakes into the distance several hundred feet below the tee box and then dog legs uphill to the raised green. It is a stunning finale to a quite wonderful course.

    Llanmynech Golf Club

Llanmynech Golf Club boasts a unique claim to fame in that you can play one round of golf in two separate countries, courtesy of Offa’s Dyke running through the course. On the 4th hole you tee off in Wales and putt out in England. The 5th and 6th hole remain in England before you are cordially welcomed back into Wales on the 7th tee.  The course is also where Ian Woosnam, O.B.E., Ryder Cup Captain 2006, learnt his golf.  Both his mother and father are past Captains of the Club, and the course remains one his favourite places to play golf.

    Oswestry Golf Club

Designed by James Braid and home to two Ryder Cup Captains, Oswestry Golf Club is a mature parkland course, renowned for its excellent all year-round condition and friendly welcome. Set in the glorious Shropshire countryside, yet close to major transport networks, Oswestry is a truly special place to play golf.

    Shrewsbury Golf Club

Shrewsbury Golf Club boasts mature parkland with tree lined fairways and fast greens with subtle borrows to challenge the accomplished golfer.  A course of two halves, the flat lush fairways of the front nine are followed by undulating holes on the back with stunning views across surrounding hills. Well-draining greens and tees means that the course is always in fine condition and makes for a super conclusion to the Shropshire Golf Tour.
