• Overview

This years’ tour has been specifically planned to be easy paced.  Two of the three weeks are at on-site venues, which feature sublime accommodation, fantastic golf and wonderfully relaxing settings.  With Fancourt one week and Selborne the next, we are being truly spoilt with wonderful South African hospitality.  Selborne was regarded as the Gleneagles of South Africa, which its character and historical charm.  It is the perfect resort for a most relaxing and enjoyable week of superb accommodation, excellent cuisine and high-class golf.

The beautifully restored Selborne Golf Estate, Hotel and Spa  provides a sophisticated haven of relaxation, nestled in the heart of the lush and tranquil south coast of KwaZulu Natal.  The Estate offers a championship golf course, fine dining, a world-class spa and premium accommodation. The 18-hole world-class golf course offers challenging play through the stunning coastal forest.  We can enjoy pure indulgence at the spa, with more than 30 luxurious therapies available, from classic to contemporary massages, facial therapies and nail treatments.  The Selborne Hotel offers a range of delightful dining options, from The Lord Selborne Restaurant, to light meals on The Terrace, and the convivial atmosphere of Barker’s Bar.

The jewel of Selborne is its golf course, rated by Golf Digest magazine as one of the top 100 courses in Southern Africa.  The 18-hole, Par 72 course has manicured fairways designed around one of only two privately-owned coastal forests in South Africa. The course has been masterfully crafted to offer a challenging round, while players  can take in unhindered sea vistas at nearly every hole of this exemplary course.  Its beauty has been compared to that of Augusta, and the challenges that may be found here have been the downfall of many players during the Sunshine Tour.  Designed by Denis Barker, one of the original proprietors of the Selborne Golf Estate, Hotel and Spa, the challenge is on from the first tee onwards, providing a real contest for players of every ability.  Water is a prominent feature on the majority of the holes.  The driving range is also superb, and sits alongside Africa’s biggest putting green.  We have five rounds on this wonderful golf course, complimented by the stunning sea views and sightings of indigenous wildlife.
