• Overview

We returned to Fancourt in 2017 after an absence of some years.  Well, we are returning at the first opportunity in 2018!  Fancourt is quite simply one of the leading golf resorts in the world, with sumptuous accommodation, a sublime setting beneath the Outeniqua Mountains and the resort is home to three of the best golf courses in South Africa.

The week includes up to six rounds of golf, three each on the Montague and Outeniqua courses, and four Golf Clinics.  There is also the option to play on Fancourt’s Links course for a supplement, which we can arrange for you, if required.

The Montagu course, originally designed by Gary Player, has developed into one of the finest 18-hole parkland layouts in South Africa, earning it the number 6 position on Golf Digest SA’s list of top golf courses in the country. Exquisitely conditioned to provide a riveting golfing experience, this tree-lined course covers large tracts of varying terrain on rolling land.

The Outeniqua course, ranked number 17 in South Africa by Golf Digest, presents an 18-hole parkland layout that is tailored to provide a laid-back golfing experience. Designed by Gary Player and named after the mountain range that forms its breathtaking backdrop, the course is always in pristine condition.

The third course at Fancourt is the ‘Links course’, a course that Gary Player has described as his greatest feat as a course designer.  Featuring an undulating, windswept terrain and dune-style landscape, the course is the collaborative handiwork of golfing icon, Gary Player, course designer, Phil Jacobs and Fancourt’s owner, Dr Hasso Plattner.  The Links is currently voted number one in the country by Golf Digest South Africa, and as number 34 in Golf Digest US edition’s list of the world’s 100 greatest golf courses.  Transformed from an airfield into a piece of environmental and golfing heritage, The Links has hosted some of the most prestigious tournaments in the world, including the Presidents Cup (2003), the SA Open (2005) and the 2012 Volvo Golf Champions European Tour. Inspired by the famous links courses of the British Isles, The Links is considered a masterpiece and plays host to a range of global golfing legends including John Bland, Justin Rose, Retief Goosen, Branden Grace and Ernie Els.  The Links is a private Club, but limited tee times are available for guests staying at Fancourt, and if you do wish to play the course, please let us know and we will make the appropriate arrangements.

With regards to the Golf Clinics, we fully realise that some clients require more tuition than others and indeed that the purpose of attending the week is for some clients more a case of improving their golf game, than playing golf.    Although this week is not an intensive ‘Golf & Coaching Week,’ it will certainly provide the means to fine-tune your golf game, as well as enjoying the exceptional golf courses, and world-class hotel and resort.

The Fancourt Estate is located across 613 hectares of natural paradise, with close proximity to the Outeniqua mountain range and the warm Indian Ocean.  The accommodation at Fancourt is superb and the facilities of the resort include a holistic spa, four restaurants and many indoor and outdoor leisure facilities.  We have two types of rooms booked, ‘Classic Rooms’ and an upgrade option for ‘1-Bedroom Suites’.   The ‘Classic Rooms’  are equipped with all the essentials needed to settle in to a relaxing stay at the Fancourt Hotel. These rooms provide the perfect setting for unwinding after a day of activities and feature shared or private balconies.  The ‘1-Bedroom Suites’ come complete with a separate living area.  They provide a spacious haven where guests can spread out and unwind, with each suite including a private balcony or patio designed to showcase the idyllic views of Fancourt’s manicured estate.  Please note however, that we only have four ‘1-Bedroom Suites’ available.
