The golf programme commences with a round at Bamburgh Castle Golf Club, which presents a super test of golf and a setting to behold. For our second round we head up the coast to the majestic Goswick Links course, arguably the finest links course in the North-East of England. And to complete our Northumbrian golf experience, we head to the fourth oldest golf course in England, Alnmouth Golf Club.
To compliment the golf, we are staying in a wonderful character hotel, the Cook & Barker Inn, where we will take dinner each evening and reflect on the day just past. Full of charm, character and ambience, the Cook & Barber Inn is the perfect base for our tour of the region.
As with all of our tours, we only have a limited number of places available.

Overview
The Cook and Barker Inn
‘A real traditional Northumbrian Country Inn’ is the perfect description for The Cook & Barker Inn. From its elevated location in the picturesque village of Newton on the Moor, the Inn enjoys outstanding views of both the Northumberland Coast and the Cheviot hills. The Inn boasts an excellent restaurant, bar areas and a beer garden, as well as 14 En-suite rooms and two exclusive suites. The hotel is the perfect base for our tour of Northumberland, providing a serene retreat for dinner and drinks each evening and to reflect on the golf earlier in the day.
Bamburgh Castle Golf Club
Bamburgh Castle Golf Club is often quoted as being one of the most scenic courses in Britain, and it is easy to understand why. With views of Lindisfarne, the Farne Islands, the Cheviot Hills and of course Bamburgh Castle itself, the course is one of the truest links experiences to be had in England. The course is lined by gorse, heather, whinstone and rare fauna and has a unique series of opening holes with back-to-back par 3s followed by two excellent par 5s. While not the longest course, amounting to just over 5,600 yards, it is a demanding par 68, although there are birdie opportunities especially on the way home with three par 4s under 300 yards for us to savour.
Goswick Golf Club
The Goswick Links course is nestled amidst windswept dunes along a vast expanse of stunning coastline midway between Edinburgh and Newcastle, just three miles off the A1. A truly wonderful links course, and although a little remote, that is one of the many attributes that makes it so special. As we play it, we will be rewarded with an escape from reality and we will experience as Darwin puts it, ‘one of the most naturally magnificent pieces of golfing ground that ever swam into the ken of the golfing explorer’. We will be challenged and inspired, no matter what our skill level. The R&A has designated Goswick golf course as an Open qualifying venue through 2022. And it recently hosted the England Golf County Senior Finals. We will walk off the 18th green with a round to remember, and thereafter enjoy a bite and a pint in the newly refurbished lounge of the welcoming clubhouse.
Alnmouth Golf Club
To complete our tour of Northumberland, we will play the ‘Jewel in Northumberland’s Golfing Crown’, Alnmouth Golf Club. Foxton Hall, as it is often called, overlooks the splendours of both Foxton and Alnmouth Bay on the Northumberland coastline in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. It is widely regarded as one of the finest golf courses in the North East of England. Established in 1869, and steeped in history, Alnmouth Golf Club is the four oldest Golf Club in England. Although the course has a coastal location, it has parkland turf and has a reputation as one of the Top 100 Hidden Gem golf courses in the UK by Golf Monthly magazine. Visitors are always given a warm Northumbrian welcome at Alnmouth, which boasts a wonderful golf course, first class practice facilities and a beautiful Clubhouse.
