I love the experience of hosting groups of golfers and helping them with their game, and indeed I will be providing a clinic before each round, or rather after the round on the Wednesday at Woodhall Spa. The clinics, or warm up sessions, will be on a theme that is appropriate for the course that day and the clients who have booked the trip. Not too much technical stuff, more the practical side of golf that actually makes an impact on players scoring pretty quickly. A combination of teaching sufficient for the discerning golfers and perfect for those who enjoy a bit of constructive advice to enable progressive steps with their game. Each evening we will return to the Admiral Rodney Hotel in Horncastle for dinner and migrate to the bar thereafter to discuss the experience of the day. Although the focus of the tour is on the golf and the clinics, the social side to the trip is hugely important too, with great camaraderie to be had during the tour, and friends old and new to be acquainted with.
The Admiral Rodney Hotel, Horncastle, Lincolnshire
Lying at the south west foot of the Wolds and at the edge of the Fens, Horncastle is a bustling and historic market town situated just 19 miles from Lincoln. It attracts visitors from home and abroad; eager to browse its antique shops and explore the weekly markets. The Admiral Rodney is an 18th century Coaching Inn located at the very heart of the town. It has 31 individually styled rooms, a contemporary bar, an 80 cover restaurant and relaxing coffee area. It is the ideal accommodation location for the golf tour.
Seacroft Golf Club
Seacroft is known as a hidden gem among the top courses of Great Britain and Ireland. It is a traditional links course tucked away on the Lincolnshire coast at the south end of Skegness. It is adjacent to the Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve with glorious views over the Wash to the Norfolk Coast. A great deal of the course is also a Natural England Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) where golf and the environment join together in harmony. The championship course plays host to several amateur championships but as a Member’s owned Club it also prides itself on being suitable for golfers of all abilities.
Woodhall Spa Golf Club – Bracken Course
Created by Donald Steel, one of Britain’s foremost golf course architects of the modern era, The Bracken Course, which opened in 1998, has evolved into a course of exceptional finesse that is appreciated and enjoyed every day by golfers of all abilities. What makes the Bracken Course both special and a pleasure to play is its reputation as a role model for contemporary golf course creation. Its wild flowers and wildlife habitats emphasise the importance of ecology and natural harmony, an area of expertise in which the English Golf Union offers thought leadership and professional advisory services.
Woodhall Spa Golf Club – Hotchkin Course
Ranked among the World’s Top 100 Courses by Golf World magazine (25th), the Hotchkin Course at the National Golf Centre, Woodhall Spa, is consistently rated among the world’s finest heathland golf experiences and a favourite destination for golfers. For more than a century, golf travellers have been welcomed to this exquisite heathland course, famous for its natural beauty, dramatic bunkering and distinct tactical challenge. Each of the Hotchkin Course’s 18 holes is individually memorable, while the joy of every drive and crisply struck iron shot from firm, heathland turf makes for an unforgettable experience.
Blankney Golf Club
Located in the heart of rural Lincolnshire and part of the Blankney estate this beautiful parkland golf course is always a pleasure to play. For over a century, golfers have enjoyed Blankney and its natural surroundings and more recently have witnessed tremendous improvements, which have modernised the course with consideration to golfers of all standards.
