• Overview

    The Green Dragon Hotel

The Green Dragon Hotel has a truly distinctive style and is located in the heart of the historic city centre of Hereford. Newly refurbished in 2019, the hotel provides a warm welcome, a comfortable stay, and some of the best food and drink Herefordshire has to offer. We are making the most of our stay at the hotel with dinner taken each evening in The Hereford Restaurant, whilst we will be able to relax in the stylish Garrick Lounge or indulge in a local pint in the luxurious Offa Bar. The hotel rooms come in all shapes and sizes, and all feature large, comfortable beds and en suite bathrooms as standard, each with unique decor inspired by the heritage of the hotel and its place within Hereford.

    Rolls of Monmouth Golf Club

The Rolls of Monmouth Golf Club, with its championship 6,733 yard golf course, is set in superb countryside with spectacular views of the Welsh hills. It is one of the most outstanding golf courses, not just in Wales but in the whole of the UK. The course is designed in two halves which are separated by a large wooded hill area. The course demands a wide range of shots and each hole has been designed to challenge each aspect of the golfer’s game. The Club is also steeped in history, with the Manor House being the former home of Charles Stewart Rolls, the co-founder of Rolls Royce.

    Ross on Wye Golf Club

Nestling in the wooded hills above the Wye Valley between Ross on Wye, Ledbury and Newent, the Ross on Wye Golf Club is one of the finest courses in the south west Midlands and is something of a hidden gem. Rolling fairways, lined with mature stands of trees, mean that accuracy and course management are at a premium rather than just the length of hitting.

    Kington Golf Club

Kington Golf Club is the highest 18-hole golf course in England and is rated as one of the top courses in Herefordshire. Kington has also been designated a Top 100 course by Golf World and National Club Golfer magazine. Although the course rises to 1,284 ft above sea-level at its highest point, we should not be deterred, as the majority of the climbing is done in the car on the way to the Clubhouse! The golf-course was designed in 1926 by Major Cecil Hutchinson, who helped to design Gleneagles. The course overlooks the rich agricultural land of Herefordshire and the Welsh borders and offers unrivalled panoramic views of The Brecon Beacons, The Black Mountains, The Clee Hills, The Shropshire Hills and the Malvern Hills. The terrain at Kington Golf Club has been described as an inland-links and it offers well-draining, springy moorland turf often playable when other local courses are water-logged.

    The Herefordshire Golf Club

First opening in 1896, the Herefordshire Golf Club has since made two moves to settle at its current location, which was discovered by the late great James Braid. Originally part of the Foxley Estate, this spectacular country course has previously drawn comparisons with Gleneagles thanks to its high quality fairways and greens and the gently undulating terrain, not to mention the breath-taking views of the surrounding countryside. The modern two-storey clubhouse overlooks the putting green with the bar providing a great vantage point for course views as well as serving drinks and food throughout the day. A round of golf here gives us complete tranquillity; no traffic noise, no hustle or bustle just the sound of the resident wildlife as we make our way around the undulating, thought provoking 18 holes.
