Lopesan Costa Meloneras Resort, Gran Canaria, Spain
The Lopesan Costa Meloneras Resort, Spa & Casino, is a 4-star superior hotel located on the seafront, a few metres from the Nature Reserve of the Maspalomas Dunes, in southern Gran Canaria. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, the hotel offers everything we need to spend a relaxing week of golf, leisure and entertainment.
The hotel provides very good accommodation, and a host of leisure facilities, including four tennis courts with quartz sand and artificial light, two paddle courts, mini golf, a putting green, a pool room, a shuffleboard court, bocce and table tennis. The Resort also has a large gym with a superb range of fitness equipment.
There are four restaurants on-site and a host of others within a stroll of the Resort. Restaurants will be booked each evening by David, ensuring a most enjoyable culinary stay, as well enjoying the golf.
The Maspalomas and Melonaras golf courses are also both on-site; hence there will only be three days that involve transfers, adding to the relaxing nature of the week.
THE GOLF COURSES
Anfi Tauro Golf
The 18-hole championship golf course at Anfi Tauro Golf opened in 2006 and covers an area in excess of 650,000m². Renowned golf course designers Von Hagge, Smelek and Baril, designed the Arizona style course and are highly acclaimed for their challenging and innovative designs. Anfi Tauro Golf provides an idyllic visual backdrop to a privileged coastal setting, where we will enjoy an impeccably maintained course. The course is set in acres of lush green gardens with rich vegetation, lakes and waterfalls and is enclosed by the impressive volcano shaped mountains. It is the remarkable location that makes the Anfi Tauro golf course so unique.
Meloneras Golf Course
The Meloneras golf course is an oasis of palm trees and lakes, with the nature of the Canary Islands as its true protagonist. The golf course is located strategically between the natural reservation of the Maspalomas dunes and the yacht harbour of Pasito Blanco, just in front of Meloneras beach. At the same time, the course presents panoramic views of the island´s mountains, a luxury that is coupled with an envious climate that enables golfers to practise this legendary sport all year long.
Maspalomas Golf Course
The Maspalomas golf course is surrounded by the Natural Park of the Dunes of Maspalomas, a feature that sets its mark on the course design, created by Mackenzie Ross. The course is flat and extensive with long and broad fairways. The proximity of the sea and the gentle breeze turn a game on this course into the most pleasant experience, thanks to the refreshing influence of the trade winds. The 18 hole, 73 par course has hosted a number of international events.
Salobre Golf Resort – Old Course
The Old Course (South course) was inaugurated in 1999 and is one of the oldest commercial courses on the island. It was designed by Roland Favré, has 18 holes and is a Par 71 course. It has been the venue for important championships such as the 2006 Spanish PGA and the Senior and Women’s Championships in Spain in 2001.
The Old Course is a course for players of all levels. Tees at different heights, wide fairways and small greens are its hallmarks. Outstanding are its par 3 holes which are the most demanding, especially the 11th hole which is the emblematic hole of the course due to its difficulty and the stone environment which surrounds its green.
Salobre Golf Resort – New Course
The New Course (North Course), was constructed in 2008 and was designed by Ron Kirby. This 18 hole course with Par 70, has evolved extensively over the last few years. The New Course will surprise all the players who seek a new experience, due to its special design and its remarkable landscape.
It is a demanding, technical course which is links in nature, owing to its adaptation to the environment and wild nature. The difficulty of some of its strokes is compensated by short holes, where it is possible to achieve very good results by choosing the correct strategy. The New Course is indeed a unique course where you will feel a connection between your game and the environment.
