The hotel is also ideally located for the golf courses that we are playing, with both Quinta da Cima and Quinta da Ria located on-site and Benamor and Monte Rei just a short drive arrive.

Our golf for the week will encompass both Quinta da Cima and Quinta da Ria, together with a round at Benamor and a round at the unrivalled Monte Rei Golf Club.

Throughout the Tour, there will also be the opportunity for some informal golf lessons.  Simply let me know if you would like some tuition and if so, clinics will be arranged accordingly.

The Robinsons Club, opened in 2008, presents a superb combination of quality accommodation, service, cuisine and facilities.  The resort simply provides the very highest standards on all fronts.   The resort is also very close to the charming Algarve town of Tavira.  The bedrooms are all modern in style and come equipped with two bathrooms, one of which features a shower.  In-room amenities include a hairdryer, a make-up mirror, a direct dial telephone, a safety deposit box, a mini bar, satellite TV and an individually regulated air conditioning and a heating system.  Internet access is available and the beds are double or king-size.  Balconies and terraces also feature.  The hotel features an outdoor pool and a heated indoor pool and the well equipped gym has ocean views.  There are also four tennis courts, a spa area with two saunas, steam rooms and a solarium.  The terms of stay at the hotel are ‘Full Board,’ which encompasses breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks throughout the day and some drinks.  Both Quinta da Ria Golf Club and Quinta da Cima Golf Club are located on-site.

The Quinta da Ria course is a wonderful golf course located on a cliff overlooking the most beautiful inlet of the Ria Formosa nature reserve and the Atlantic ocean.  The absence of building sites and excellent green keeping make it an excellent golf course to play and to enjoy the spectacular views.  The course comprises of two loops of 9 holes. Five lakes present various challenges as the round unfolds.  The greens are undulating and well protected by bunkers. More than 300 trees, such as olive and carob trees have been transplanted in order to maintain the ancient border of the Quinta da Ria Golf Course and the typical features of the region landscape.

Compared to Quinta da Ria, the Quinta de Cima Golf Course looks and plays more like a top tournament course.  This is not only a matter of length but also balance and difficulty of holes. From the very first tee of Quinta de Cima we will need to carefully consider our game strategy, with choice of club and ball trajectory.  Hazards are definitely very much in play on all holes, whether it is the well designed and cleverly located bunkers or the water hazards in the shape of lakes, streams and ditches.

The owning Martins Dias family invited the late Sir Henry Cotton to design the Benamor course.  Sir Henry was inspired by the beautiful church next to the site of the Clubhouse and by its spectacular location.  The final result is the delightful Benamor golf course, which has proved so popular with clients over recent years.  The course lies just outside of Tavira and has won several awards as the best maintained course in Portugal.  The course is undulating but not hilly and the views of the mountains to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the South are stunning.

Award winning golf designer and legend, Jack Nicklaus has created a golfing masterpiece at the Monte Rei Golf Club, the first of his ‘Signature Courses’ to reach the Algarve and Portugal, and one of very few in Europe.  The par 72 championship course plays over 6,500 metres, meandering over gentle hills and valleys, in what Nicklaus believes “a great setting with awesome views”.  The presentation of the course is highly individual, from the shape of the holes to the cut of the bunkering.  The attention to detail is quite unbelievable, making each hole as remarkable as the next.   Not only is the golf course superb, but the service at the Golf Club simply sets the bar at the highest point.  From the moment we arrive, we will embark on an experience that we will not forget.
