• Overview

Welcome to Bangkok; cultural phenomenon, shopping heaven and tourist treasure, one of the most cosmopolitan, contrasting and, above all, compelling of Asian cities.  A steamy, pulsating, yet smiling metropolis of more than ten million people, which is intense at first, but addictive as anything.

Bangkok is one the most fascinating and diverse cities in the world, let alone just Asia. One can walk from the bustling street markets into the most elegant and up market shopping malls imaginable within a minute. You will see anything and everything on the back of a tuk tuk, closely followed behind by a Tesco home delivery van! The people are wonderful, always smiling, always delighted to see a ‘Farang’ (westerner) and they are the very essence of what is the very calm, dignified and respectful society that one discovers in Bangkok and indeed Thailand as a whole. The City is always busy and yet somehow very calm. We therefore wanted to present the opportunity for a few days in this wonderful City before the golf tour gets underway.

Wednesday 11th November – Welcome to Asia!

    ~ Arrive Bangkok

~ Meet and greet and transfer to the Centara Grand Hotel at Centralworld, Bangkok

We have booked one of the best hotels in the centre of the City, the Centara Grand Hotel at Central World, where we are within a stone’s throw of some of Asia’s most extensive and exclusive malls, but equally within a stroll of the fascinating street markets and side streets, not to forget the plethora of food stalls, and restaurants that cater for all tastes and budgets.

Overnight – The Centara Grand Hotel at Centralworld, Bangkok (5 Star)

Thursday 12th November – Half Day Tour of Bangkok

In the morning we have arranged a private half day ‘Best of Bangkok’ tour, which includes the Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaew and Wat Pho. The Grand Palace, undoubtedly the city’s most famous landmark, was built in 1782, and for 150 years was the home of the Thai King.   The Palace continues to have visitors in awe of its beautiful architecture and intricate detail, all of which is a proud salute to the creativity and craftsmanship of the Thai people. Located within the grounds of the Palace is Wat Phra Kaew, more commonly known as the ‘Temple of the Emerald Buddha’ and it is the most revered Buddhist shrine in Thailand. Close by the Palace is Wat Pho, the ‘Temple of the Reclining Buddha.’ It is one of the largest temple complexes in the city and famed for its giant reclining Buddha that measures 46 metres long and is covered in gold leaf.  Wat Pho is also a great place to get a traditional Thai massage, as it is considered the leading school of massage in Thailand. Indeed we have included a two hour traditional massage within the tour. The afternoon will be spent at leisure and we would highly recommend exploring the quite extraordinary shopping malls such as Siam Paragon, Central World and MBK to name just three.

Overnight – The Centara Grand Hotel at Centralworld, Bangkok (5 Star)

Friday 13th November – Exploring Thailand old and new

A fascinating day exploring some of the oldest Temples and Palaces in Thailand, before taking a cruise back down the Chao Phraya River from the quiet countryside into the metropolis of Bangkok. We will firstly make our way to Ayuthaya, the old Capital City of Thailand, via a series of temples and Palaces, which include Wat Yai Chai Monkol, the Ancient Palace, the Bang Pa-In Summer Palace and Wat Chaiwatthanaram. We will then head to the boat and cruise back to Bangkok with a buffet lunch included on board. We arrive back in Bangkok just after 4:00pm, which presents ample time for more exploring of the City and its shopping and culinary temptations.

Overnight – The Centara Grand Hotel at Centralworld, Bangkok (5 Star)

Saturday 14th November – Onwards to Hua Hin

~ Overland ground transfer to Hua Hin (approximately 2 hours)

After a leisurely breakfast we will be transferred by road to Hua Hin to commence the golf tour, where we will meet up with the rest of the tour party who would have arrived today.
