• Overview

As mentioned above, we will explore different restaurants each evening and enjoy some excellent food and wine. As well the five excellent rounds of golf and the wonderful restaurants that we visit in the evenings, the ‘Algarve Golf Week’ is all about the camaraderie of the clients who book. It is the friendships renewed and newly made that make the week such a success year after year.

    THE HOTEL

    The Maria Nova Lounge Hotel

The Maria Nova Lounge Hotel provides the ideal location for this Golf  week.  Located close to all of the Golf Clubs that we will be visiting, the hotel is also close to the historic centre of the city, offering great convenience to explore the main attractions of Tavira on foot, without the need for transportation.  In addition to its excellent location, the hotel provides tranquillity and comfort for the week, with restaurants and bars at our disposal, perfect for both light meals and fine dining experiences.  At the top of the hotel, there is the Rooftop Nomad, offering a fantastic panoramic view of Tavira and the opportunity to enjoy a refreshing cocktail at sunset.  The hotel rooms are also modern and well-appointed bedrooms.  The hotel also boasts an outdoor pool, indoor pool, a gym and a spa.  Indeed, the SPA at the Maria Nova Lounge hotel, has free access to a sauna, Turkish bath, whirlpool, and the heated indoor pool. In the hotel’s SPA, we can also enjoy various therapeutic treatments and massages for our well-being, at an additional cost and by appointment.

    Quinta da Ria Golf Club

The Quinta da Ria course is a wonderful golf course located on a cliff overlooking the most beautiful inlet of the Ria Formosa nature reserve and the Atlantic Ocean. The absence of building sites and excellent green keeping make it an excellent golf course to play and to enjoy the spectacular views. The course comprises of two loops of 9 holes. Five lakes present various challenges as the round unfolds. The greens are undulating and well protected by bunkers. More than 300 trees, such as olive and carob trees have been transplanted in order to maintain the ancient border of the Quinta da Ria Golf Course and the typical features of the region landscape.

    Quinta da Ombria Golf Club

The Ombria Resort offers a landmark golf experience, an 18-hole, Par 70 signature course where nature has been fully integrated into the play experience to provide a diverse challenge and setting. This signature course was designed by Jorge Santana da Silva, who followed a sustainable vision to complement and enhance the natural landscape. Weaving around ancient rivers and trees that have stood for generations, it has achieved the standards of golf’s most prestigious ecolabel certifications and created a naturally diverse setting for a truly memorable round of golf.

    Quinta de Cima Golf Club

Compared to Quinta da Ria, the Quinta de Cima Golf Course looks and plays more like a top tournament course. This is not only a matter of length but also balance and difficulty of holes. From the very first tee of Quinta de Cima we will need to carefully consider our game strategy, with choice of club and ball trajectory. Hazards are definitely very much in play on all holes, whether it is the well designed and cleverly located bunkers or the water hazards in the shape of lakes, streams and ditches.

    Benamor Golf Club

Desgined by Sir Henry Cotton, Benamor Golf is a superb 18-hole Golf Course located on the South of Portugal, Algarve, just a few kilometres east of the ancient city of Tavira. The fairways of Bermuda Sahara and cool-season grasses, provide good lies for wood and iron shots. The golf course was completed in the spring of 2000. In the nearby foothills of Barrocal, you will enjoy some of the best mountain and sea views the Algarve has to offer. But maybe most enjoyable of all, are the peaceful surroundings of a construction free resort. Possibly the only one on the Algarve.

    Monte Rei Golf Club

Award winning golf designer and legend, Jack Nicklaus has created a golfing masterpiece at Monte Rei, the first of his ‘Signature Courses’ to reach the Algarve and Portugal, and one of very few in Europe. The par 72 championship course plays over 6,500 metres, meandering over gentle hills and valleys, in what Nicklaus believes “a great setting with awesome views”. The presentation of the course is highly individual, from the shape of the holes to the cut of the bunkering. The attention to detail is quite unbelievable, making each hole as remarkable as the next. Not only is the golf course superb, but the service at the Golf Club simply sets the bar at the highest point. From the moment we arrive, we will embark on an experience that we will not forget.
