The Conrad Resort Hotel in Quinta do Lago is one of the most luxurious 5-star hotels in Portugal. With modern and sophisticated facilities, a breath-taking location and golf courses all around us, the hotel is perfect for our Christmas golf tour.

The Conrad Algarve is home to 154 contemporary styled, luxury rooms and suites with modern technology and amenities. Each room features a bath and separate rain shower and stunning views from the bright and airy balconies.  The hotel boasts three state-of-the-art swimming pools, one indoor pool with mosaic flooring, one large outdoor pool with children’s section, and the crowning glory, a heated infinity pool surrounded by lush landscaped gardens and terraces.  Both the infinity pool and the indoor pool feature have an underwater music system.  The hotel is also home to a renowned Spa & Health Club offering sauna, steam room, ice fountain and plunge pool, plus an array of cutting-edge treatments to rejuvenate and relax.

The hotel has two gourmet restaurants, one run by Michelin-starred chef, Heinz Beck, serving contemporary Mediterranean dishes from the open display kitchen. The restaurant offers a cocktail bar, extensive wine and Cuban cigar menus, as well as an al fresco terrace for romantic outdoor dining. There are four bars serving luxury hot and cold drinks including cocktails and champagne, plus snacks and light meals including South American inspired BBQ for poolside dining.

Quinta do Lago Golf Club – South Course

The Quinta do Lago South course is the crown jewel of Quinta do Lago. Designed in 1974 by William Mitchell, who introduced American-standard greens, tees and bunkers to the Algarve. Soon the course gained a prestigious reputation and became a flagship in the European Tour Course. A favourite among European tour players, the 6,500 metre par 72 course is set among umbrella pines, lakes and wild flowers, overlooking the serene Ria Formosa National Park.  The South course has hosted the Portuguese Open eight times, including Colin Montgomerie’s win in 1989.  Having won 24 under par, he finished 11 strokes ahead and broke the world record with a round of 63.

Vale do Lobo Golf Club – Ocean Course

The Ocean Course, composed of the two original 9-hole golf courses designed by Sir Henry Cotton, features gently undulating fairways which run alongside nature reserve before leading gently down to the shores of the Atlantic.  Its emblematic holes are two challenging and spectacular Par 4s, the 11th and the 14th, and the Par 3 15th which runs alongside the beach.

Quinta da Lago – North Course

The North Course was totally redesigned in 2014, by the renowned architect Beau Welling, in conjunction with former European Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley. The new layout has been built to the highest specifications, with an investment of €9million.  All the greens, tees, bunkers, irrigation and drainage systems and buggy paths have been re-built using innovative technology. Four sets of tees have been introduced on each hole to accommodate players of all levels. Golfers are challenged by a combination of undulating greens, well-positioned bunkers and water hazards. A low-cut Bermuda grass approach has been introduced around greens to create recovery shot options, therefore encouraging all levels of play. Through the introduction of seasonal rough grass and the planting of specimen trees, the aesthetics and environmental impact of the par-72 course has significantly improved.

Vale do Lobo Golf Club – Royal Course

The 18-hole championship Vale do Lobo Royal golf course, the sister course to the Ocean course, has combined several existing holes from the original Vale do Lobo course and introduced some special interesting new holes. The layout of the course is skilfully planned with a mixture of challenges slowly building up to a fine challenge on the 18th.  The famous Par 3 7th hole from the old days is now the spectacular 16th on the new course. The closing 18th is a tricky hole on which to finish, with its narrow fairway and a deceptive green.

Quinta da Lago – Laranjal Course

The Quinta do Lago’s Laranjal course is one of the finest courses in the Algarve and a favourite with clients in recent years.  The course, which was originally an orange grove, is a sanctuary for fine golf.  The narrow fairways and the well-defined greens require concentration and accuracy to navigate what is a testing course laid out on a rolling and distinctive terrain. It is a par 72, 6,480 metres long, with five par 5s, eight par 4s and five par 3s, all set amongst umbrella pines, cork-oaks and orange trees, with a natural water course and five beautiful lakes.
