Another fabulous Christmas Golf Week at the Robinson Club. Lovely weather, golf courses, especially Quinta da Ria, in the best condition I have seen them for some time, as always great food (I wait all year for the Christmas Day goose and wild boar) and a great group of 26 entering into the spirit of the festive season.
Our first days team event commenced in ideal golfing conditions that lasted all week! Trish, Liz and Mike came out on top in the team event over the Quinta da Ria course, obviously not distracted by the gorgeous sea views of the second nine. Liz triumphed again in the second day team event, partnered by Kaye, Alan and Bob this time played on the Quinta do Cima course.
Our Christmas Day treat was a visit to Monte Rei. Apart from it being a course out of the top drawer, the whole ambience of this resort puts it in the premiere league of European resort courses. Rumour has it that Jack Nicklaus will be back soon to commence building the second eighteen within the next year or so – I can’t wait! I had the pleasure of marking David and Ronnie Hirst’s excellent 42pts in the 4bbb, two points ahead of Trish and Pat, who beat Trevor and David J on the back nine.
Following a well earned and probably much needed rest for most of us, Julia and Alan won the penultimate day 4bbb on Quinta do Cima before we concluded our week with an individual stableford, yet again in beautiful conditions on the Quinta da Ria course.
Now, I’ve never been known for my prowess at paper work or my memory and here I have to apologise to the runner up! Pat deservedly won with an excellent round of 35pts of which again I was the marker. Ken took third place and Jean was our leading lady, but who was runner up? I have no idea and that is why I haven’t mentioned the previous days 4bbb runners up, because I don’t have that either. My apologies to all concerned!!
As always Christmas is a popular event, many have re booked for 2017 and places are already at a premium. Give Iain a call now to guarantee your place.
