Day One – After meeting up and talking through our objectives for the Golf and Coaching stay at Staverton Park, Daventry, we started with our short game. I really feel that the genesis of the swing begins with the chipping and pitching. We had a good session, briefly interrupted with a short sharp downpour, however it was soon over and we had a glorious afternoon for our 9 holes. This is fun for the players to try out their new skills and for David and I to see where everyone is in “real time” on the golf course. Plenty of positives and things for us to work on tomorrow.
Day Two – We split into two groups of six for tuition in the morning to cover our swing building exercises and to discuss what I had seen on the course in terms of technique, course management and general routines. After both groups had been reviewed, we went to everyone’s favourite, the bunkers. In the afternoon we had an informal competition with best two scores out of four and with an excellent 42 points for the 9 holes the quartet of Naomi, Hazel, Ken & Simon were the winners.
Day Three – Once again we were blessed with the weather. We split the group for the long game instruction and then reviewed the all important chip shots and holing putts. This set us up for the 18 holes, where we decided to have four groups of three balls and have a best ball competition. There was some excellent golf all round and the trio of Naomi, Pat and Helen came up trumps. Everyone had a good day and finished off with a nice dinner in the hotel, the obligatory glass of wine, purely for medicinal reasons of course
Day Four – We wrapped up by reviewing what we had learnt and everyone made notes on the parts of the game they needed to concentrate on. We had a question and answer session to finish off with and sadly the weather wasn’t inspiring us for more golf, so we left on a dry!!
All the best
